What is one?[]

What IS an Abraxo?

There are two possible sources for the name. One is a play on words and the name of a powdered cleanser 'Boraxo' (I think it's still sold today, but was definitely around in the 1960's-1970's) ... the other root is the word 'abraxas,' a mystical term found in Gnostic writings linky. It does sound like a bit of an amalgam of known real-world brands like Boraxo and Ajax... not sure if that was their methodology, but the name does manage to convey (to me, at least) one of those old, scratchy cleaning powders. --79.135.106.128 14:19, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Redundancies and loquacity[]

Thinking the redundancies ("Locations" section) should be removed. Since this article is about "Abraxo Cleaner," I don't think every line needs to contain the phrase; it makes for tedious reading.

Thinking also that the extensive information regarding Nuka-Cola Quantums should be moved to another article on that subject, as extensive discussion regarding a separate article belongs in that article. I wouldn't expect a drawn-out discussion on the locations of "mutilated arms" in the Rock-It Launcher article simply because the latter can use the former as ammunition..

Absent a reply I'm sure I'll make these mods someday, when I'm bored and drunk enough to have the inclination. --Oferphuxake 18:39, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Its fine IMO, to change those instances (after the first in each section to "this item". I'll try to patch it up.

As to "babbling" about Nuka Cola Quantums, I'd have to disagree as this has a direct bearing here, as its used exclusively for this. The point is not to discuss quantum locations, but rather quantum quantity (no pun intended) and its direct bearing on *abraxo* quantity. Rock-it launcher ammo is ubiquitous -- anything will do, so no specific discussions are needed. In this case, I feel this discussion will help players reading about Abraxo know how many to keep in reserve.

Lets keep the text there and discuss it here until we can resolve if this should be moved/where to move this. I think this should stay here AND similar notes should be in Tin Can, Quantum, and Turpentine. It seems no more logical to place it in one than the other as it is a note to limit the stockpiling of this item due to the quantum limitations. If we want users to find this suggestion it should be in some form in ALL these pages, so they will see it if they're reading about Nuka grenades and its components, not be forced to stumble across it in some specific page (which would be a toss up -- should it be put in the quantum? the schematic page? the nuka grenade page?)...

Thanks for the reply. First, I apologize; it certainly isn't "gibberish." I'm embarrassed at my rudeness and apologize. I have no excuse except that I had spent several hours immediately previous cleaning up some incredibly messy articles, some featuring truly hideous writing, and wasn't in the greatest of moods.
Please assume "IMO" inserted where appropriate below.
Agreed, it certainly has a bearing; we're discussing the item "Abraxo Cleaner," its use, and the max # useful to the player. That certainly belongs. An excessively loquacious exposition of the methods to procure a separate item, and mathematical formulae used to calculate the maximum number useful to the player, however, does not. That most appropriately belongs on the schematic page. I vote for the schematic page because the use of the Nuka-Grenade itself is only as a weapon; however, the use of the schematic is only for creating the Nuka-Grenade, so discussion of ingredients belongs there. I agree that brief discussion of the Abraxo Cleaner's use as an ingredient for the Nuka-Grenade, and the maximum number useful to the player, does belong here - just in a much more concise manner. Mention of the Quantums to the degree they are mentioned here belongs on the Quantum page. Finally, I think there should simply be a "see also" section here, as per other articles, that directs the reader to the Nuka-Grenade and Nuka-Grenade Schematic pages. Thoughts?
Thanks again for replying, and for being more reasonable than I.  :) --Oferphuxake 17:47, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

No hard feelings at all :) I only started editing articles on here a few days ago to share a few nuggets of info I had gathered and to fix some glaring mistakes I've seen (i.e. people telling other people to find xxx item in metal crate in place xxxx, which is obviously a random spawn).
I agree that the discussion of quantity should be cut down. I'm going to edit the quantum article in the next few days and then based on those edits, I'll pare this page's section down and point the user to that location for more details on quantum quantity. Thanks for the help, and keep up the good work! --Irish Cape 17:52, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm new to editing wikis too, but not to editing text - I, uh, do this for a living. (hangs head in shame) Anyways, great! I'll leave it be; I'm sure whatever future edits you make will come to some kind of compromise. To be sure, we're working toward the same aim - improvements / corrections to these articles - and we're bound to have different opinions of precisely how that's done. I hope fate grants us the opportunity to work together again. --Oferphuxake 15:57, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
