Stockholm is the sentry guard of Megaton, born in 2252. He is watching the surrounding area for enemies from a catwalk around the Megaton gates. Should you be attacked by a creature, if it's in range, Stockholm will take it out with his Hunting Rifle. After a successful hack attempt of Colin Moriarty's computer, it is revealed he holds a tab at Moriarty's Saloon of 8 caps.
If you manage to speak with Stockholm (an easy way to reach Stockholm is to stand near the door of your megaton home and shoot your follower Fawkes with the rocket launcher, until he is standing on the top of the small hill next to Megaton's makeshift wall to the right of your home, then change your weapon to unarmed and attack him once in VATS, this will leave you on Stockholm's platform atop the Megaton wall, tested on the PS3, or try using console commands or jumping from the roof of Lucas Simms' house, or by jumping on the outside of the town (the gate that first opens up, either side will work but there's better luck in trying the right side of the gate) and "climbing" up it until you reach it this may take time and patience though), his only dialogue is:" The more time I spend talking to you, the less I spend watching for raiders. How the hell did you get up here, anyway?" However, he can occasionally be found wandering through the town itself (confirmed on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions). If spoken to while on the ground, Stockholm still questions "how the hell" you reached him.

[edit] Notes
- Stockholm's dialogue is a play on his inaccessibility. The Lone Wanderer is not supposed to be able to reach Stockholm's position, and he asks him how he got up there.
- If Stockholm is somehow killed a comment will say "Stockholm has been killed" which suggests he has some importance in the game (this does not always work, and sometimes will only happen if he is killed from inside megaton)
- If a fight somehow erupts in Megaton (most likely by your hand), Stockholm will sometimes come down from the catwalk and join in the fight.
- A semi-random encounter in Broken Steel, where some Megaton residents attack a water caravan, can actually result in Stockholm's death, as he tries to back up the thieves. Although his efforts may be noble, he and his Hunting Rifle don't stand a chance against the caravan's heavily-armed Brotherhood of Steel escorts unless the player intervenes. Deputy Weld may also attack the Brotherhood escorts, with his death all but guaranteed.
[edit] Oddities
- Stockholm's corpse appears to be abnormally light, as sneak-attack-critical-killing him with a shot to the back of the head will send him flying, presumably right over and out of Megaton (or in it, depending on where he is killed from)
- The above mentioned glitch can be used to create very humorous V.A.T.S. kills. Simply equip an Explosive weapon (i.e. Missile launcher, frag grenade, etc.) target Stockholm's legs, and let 'er rip. His body has been known to fly as far as the Gas station near Vault 101. It is also possible to use a weapon such as the Victory Rifle or Scoped Gauss Rifle to score a critical knockdown, resulting in Stockholm falling into the main area of Megaton. Two Stockholms should be in Megaton now, one on the catwalk, and a wounded or dead one walking around the town. (This could cause the game to freeze or crash). This glitch may not work if the player character has the perk Bloody Mess, as his chunks will not fly anywhere near as far as his whole body.
- If Stockholm is killed and all body parts stay attached, every time you exit megaton, his body is seen to fly off towards Springvale School .
[edit] Bugs
- On the PC version, the player can reach Stockholm on the edge of the catwalk.
- When stacking barrels to reach Stockholm on the outside, a rare bug may occur with the barrels, making it look like they are stuck in zero gravity rotating. This can also cause the barrels to fire up in the air, when I first encountered this bug one of the barrels flew over megatons walls and landed inside.
- If the player wishes to acquire Stockholm's Headwrap and/or Combat Armor, He or She can use a weapon with moderate zoom, such as the Hunting Rifle, to shoot him. If done correctly, Stockholm might fall off of the platform and die without any loss of Karma for the player.
- It is possible to equip Stockholm with a different weapon through a rather lengthy process. Due to the fact that the game loads two separate Stockholm characters (one inside the gates and one outside), both of them must be given the same weapon through reverse pickpocketing, otherwise glitches may arise (the amount of ammunition given to either one can vary, but both must have some in order to equip the weapon in the first place). First, climb up the front wall to reach the Stockholm stationed outside the gates (this is possible using only one stacked barrel and jumping repeatedly up the right side of the jet engine, although you could also jump on the ladder looking thing on the right and keep moving back and forth while trying to jump and eventually reaching it as well). Next reverse pickpocket him, giving him a weapon and ammo of your choice, making sure that you take his .32 Caliber Ammo for his Hunting Rifle (only attempted with a Sniper Rifle, it is probable that it would work with any weapon and even armor). Next, go into Megaton, and, using the roof of Lucas Simm's House, jump to the Stockholm stationed inside the gates (videos of how to do this can be found on YouTube). Reverse pickpocket the second Stockholm in the same manner, removing his .32 Caliber Ammo and replacing it with the weapon and ammo of your choosing. After that, exiting Megaton should be enough to force both Stockholm characters to equip the weapon you've given them permanently. NOTE: Do not give Stockholm a reason to attack until you have given both characters the weapon and ammo. If you force one of the Stockholm characters to actually equip the weapon you've given him (by turning hostile) before switching the inventory of his counterpart, the other Stockholm will likely disappear.
- Fallout 3 players on the PC have a much easier time re-equipping Stockholm simply by using the command console.
- Stockholm can be reached without the use of console commands (making it possible on Xbox 360 and PS3), via an invisible "rail" that runs atop the Megaton perimeter wall behind the plane on top of Lucas Simms' house. If the furthest extent of the tail edge of the plane can be reached (a small wedge-shaped portion), the player can jump to the top of the outer wall, carefully walk along this edge across the inward-curved, wider portion of the wall (resembling some sort of shade or blast shield) and drop themselves through a non-physical portion of the structure onto Stockholm's catwalk. This seems to work more effectively when using a female player character, as male characters tend to slide off either side of the invisible edge. (confirmed on 360 version)
- Stockholm can be randomly encountered in the wasteland. When dialogue is started he says the usual "How the hell did you get up here?" (confirmed on 360 version)
- Stockholm may occasionally turn super-elastic and fly around the area inside Megaton if you attack him when you're inside Megaton. (confirmed PC and PS3)
- It is possible to reach Stockholm on the PC without using console commands. To do this, go outside Megaton around the entrance and to wall close to "My House". There is a small hill where you can use 5mm rounds as a ladder to his catwalk. It may take some time placing the ammo the right way and you have to make the pile of ammo as high as the wall to jump onto the catwalk. Do not try to go inside Megaton by the catwalk, as the game may freeze or lock you in behind the wall.
[edit] Behind the scenes
- Stockholm's name is the name of the capital of Sweden, Stockholm.
- Stockholm's tab on Moriarty's saloon is 8 caps, according to the Moriarty's terminal.
[edit] Appearances
Stockholm appears only in Fallout 3
