I felt like I owed them, but now... now it's time to leave.

Stiggs is a repairman specializing in robotics, located at the Adams Air Force Base in the year 2277.

Background

A wastelander by birth, the Enclave recruited Stiggs when he was malnourished, and brought him back to health from severe bouts of radiation poisoning. He was then put to work maintaining and creating the latest in flamethrower technologies for the Enclave; accomplishments he is troubled by.[1]

It is interesting to note that although he was not born in the Enclave, they still rescued him and used his expertise in robotics. This, along with the fact that he wears a Pip-Boy glove, hints that he may have originated from a Vault, and is considered by the Enclave to be a "pure human". It is equally possible they just use him because no one else at Adams Air Force Base has his knowledge of robots.

Quests

  • Who Dares Wins: Stiggs approaches you on the lower level of the mobile platform and asks if you are going to hurt him. If you let him live, he can give you some information about the crawler. A dialogue option opens up if you have the Robotics Expert perk, where your character speculates what system the mainframe uses. He will compliment you as finally being someone who understands what he's talking about, and says you'd be able to reprogram the robotic and turret systems inside the base so that they will target the Enclave instead of you.

Effects of player actions

  • If you let him live, he escapes the crawler and travels to the Adams Storage Facility with his sentry bot, Sparky, and his Mister Gutsy, Hoover. After the completion of Who Dares Wins, all three are disabled and disappear from the game.
  • If you follow him to the Adams Storage Facility when he goes in, if the center turret is still active and goes hostile, he and the two robots with him become hostile to you also.
  • Stiggs and the two bots may vanish if you leave the crawler before they've all left, and they may all "get stuck" on equipment in the Adams Storage Facility.
