“A razor tipped polearm. The shaft is wooden, and the tip is worked steel.”
The spear is a throwing and melee weapon in Fallout and Fallout 2.
Characteristics[]
A crudely crafted spear with a jagged, sharp edge attached to the end of a wooden base. It can be thrusted up to two hexagons from the player's position, and thrown even farther up to 8 hexagons depending on their Throwing skill.
Variants[]
In Fallout 2, Mynoc can turn a spear into a sharpened spear if brought a piece of flint. This increases its minimum damage from 3-4, and its maximum from 10-12, essentially increasing the spear's damage by 1.
Locations[]
Fallout[]
In Fallout, they are commonly carried by raiders, as well as many Junktown police officers. Aradesh also gives one if his request to rescue Tandi is accepted.
Fallout 2[]
- The Chosen One starts the game with a spear.
- One can be found on a skeleton in the first level of the Temple of Trials.
- Certain raiders in early random encounters use them.
- Some tribals and Arroyo villagers carry them:
Notes[]
- Jordan increases the player's Melee Weapons skill by 10% from at least 35% via showing them tricks with the spear and how to properly use it.
- The spear is a technological juxtaposition to the starting weapon of the first game. In Fallout, the Vault Dweller starts with a 10mm pistol and can even find armor piercing rounds for it nearby. The Chosen One does not have this luxury as a tribal, and the best weapon they are given is the spear, which barely qualifies as "ranged."
