...8's sonic-soundwave-emitter-projecto-gun, able to broadcast sound at lethal frequencies. It also gives a great biogel massage.Doctor Dala

The sonic emitter - Gabriel's bark is a weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Background[]

At some point after Gabe had been cyberized by his owner Doctor Borous, the scientists in the X-8 research center created an audio file for the sonic emitter using a recording of his bark.

The holotape containing the audio file ended up being left in the facility's residential testing area at a later time, where Gabe eventually buried it in the ground.

Characteristics[]

An energy-based pistol that weaponizes soundwaves to produce projectiles that inflict bonus damage against robots and power armor wearers. This variant of the weapon specifically inflicts a unique "critical strike knockback" effect, knocking enemies back with a Critical Hit.

The sonic emitter's oscilloscope takes on a burgundy color when this audio file is uploaded. It is considered an improved holdout weapon.

Durability[]

The sonic emitter - Gabriel's bark can fire a total of about 495 times using standard cells, from full condition before breaking.

Locations[]

The audio file's holotape can be found in the residential testing area of the X-8 research center, where the enlarged cyberdog Gabe resides. It is located in a randomly selected burial spot among several in the area.

Notes[]

  • As with all sonic emitter modulations except for "Revelation," it is necessary to install the Jukebox's personality chip before this remodulation can be applied to the sonic emitter.
  • All cyberdogs are affected by the additional EMP damage done by this weapon.
  • Upon obtaining the audio file, robo-scorpions will spawn in the testing area as well as in the rest of the facility. The three that appear in the former area will attack Gabe immediately if he is still alive.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 The knockback effect modifies the script used by bighorners in order to make it work with the sonic emitter. This modification completely nullifies the effect when it is used by bighorners. [verified]
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Sometimes, after entering the testing area and killing Gabe, leaving while the think tanks are still talking, then returning to the testing area and acquiring the Gabriel's Bark holotape, even though the holotape was picked it up, it is missing from inventory. [verified]
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 In some playthroughs, Audio Sample - Gabriel's Bark will not spawn in any of the digging spots and there is no way to get the holotape to re-spawn through a previous reload or otherwise. [verified]
