Snuffles is a friendly, but injured mole rat living in Sloan in the Mojave Wasteland in 2281.

BackgroundEdit

So named for the snorting noise she makes when sniffing about, Snuffles is a tame mole rat living in Sloan and is, as stated by Chomps Lewis, keeping the morale up even though the quarry workers can't work because of all the deathclaws. Snuffles originally helped the miners by digging tunnels and assisting in the mining at the quarry, but when the powder gangers drove the miners off and the deathclaws moved in, the miners (and Snuffles) were forced to abandon the quarry. Her leg was badly injured by a baby deathclaw during the escape and none of the miners are skilled enough to heal her leg, though the Courier may be able to. The injury also resulted in Snuffles walking with a unique Mole Rat limp.

QuestsEdit

• Claws Mended: Snuffles is a mole rat that seems to have a damaged leg; you can heal this leg if you have 30 points in Medicine or you can heal her with a doctor's bag. This will gain you some NCR fame if you tell Chomps Lewis of your good deed. You can also stop by once in a while to ask her how things are going.

• Caution! Do not mistake Snuffles for a common mole rat and shoot at her; infamy with NCR will be the result!
• Because of all the nearby deathclaws that sometimes stray into the town and attack the occupants of Sloan, Snuffles can be killed, depriving you from getting the experience points from healing her.
• Moira Brown of Fallout 3 wondered if mole rats could be domesticated. Snuffles, along with Pumpkin from Fallout 3 and the Animal Friend perk, prove that they can.
• Snuffles will turn hostile if you're disguised as the Brotherhood, even if the player has made a truce between NCR and Brotherhood across the questline.
• Snuffles is hostile if you have a bad reputation with the NCR, even if you are disguised.
• Snuffles may be attacked by a bark scorpion if it spawns too close to town. Snuffles will usually kill the scorpion and survive the battle, only to succumb to poison later.
• Despite his alleged hatred of all types of rats, Rex will not attack Snuffles (assuming she has not been made hostile by the Courier).
