Shrapnel lives in Rivet City with his partner Flak. Together they run the Flak 'N Shrapnel's weapons store in the Marketplace. In 2277, he is 50 years old[1].

Background
Before coming to Rivet City, he used to be a Raider[2].
Daily schedule
Together with his partner Flak, he runs the Flak 'N Shrapnel's weapons store in the Marketplace. He can sell you ordnance and repair your weapons. Flak and Shrapnel share their store's inventory, so buying or selling from either one of them will update both of their stocks. This means that if Flak is enslaved by the player for Paradise Falls, Flak 'N Shrapnel's in the Marketplace will still be open. They consistently have a larger amount of caps than the other shops in Rivet City.
Interactions with the player character
Shrapnel is a weapons vendor in Rivet City.
Combat behavior
If given the choice, during combat, Shrapnel will pick up Protectron's Gaze with which he exhibits an amazingly higher rate of fire than the player character is likely to achieve. He will even choose this weapon over A3-21's Plasma Rifle and the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle.

* The key is not actually obtainable. The game sets as a condition for obtaining it that Shrapnel be dead and Flak be dead or enslaved. Since Shrapnel is set as essential, he cannot die.
Notes
- Shrapnel can repair items up to 49% normally without any perks or bonuses.
- Shrapnel cannot be killed. Instead, he is rendered "unconscious" whenever his HP is depleted.
- Shrapnel occasionally carries a Fatman.
Appearances
Shrapnel appears in Fallout 3.
Bugs
- After Flak is enslaved, Shrapnel will wander out of Rivet City and may be encountered in various locations. When found, he will speak as if he is still in Rivet City, and he will still sell items from his shop.
- If you are searching for Shrapnel, try the adult slave pen in Paradise Falls. It appears that he attempts to follow Flak.
- On the PC version of the game, you can teleport yourself to him with the console command player.moveto 0001E74A.
