Scorpion gulch is a location in the Mojave Wasteland. As the name suggests it has many bark scorpions and giant radscorpions swarming the area. Through here the player may reach HELIOS One and New Vegas, without traveling through Nipton in the south.

Layout

Scorpion Gulch lies south-east of the Brotherhood of Steel bunker in Hidden Valley. You will need to go here when looking for a Missing laser pistol; it is in the center of the valley on a rock next to a dead wastelander.

Near the exit towards Black Mountain (where Neil waits to warn off newcomers) there is a small ramp leading up to a grave, which the player can dig up for some random loot with a shovel. Often times there can be several dead wastelanders found at the entrance from the Black Mountain side, all containing minor loot.

Depending on your level, when you enter the gulch, there are a few waves of scorpions. Each wave contains 4 bark scorpions and one giant radscorpion. Along the path to the gulch, from the Black Mountain side, there are several holes in the walls along the way in which bark scorpions, and bark scorpion hunters will spawn out of.

Bugs

  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 This area is notoriously buggy. Radscorpions will often spawn partially in the ground, hover about without moving their legs, or fall through the map when killed.
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes while fast traveling to Scorpions Gulch, you will appear up in the air and then fall, causing you some damage.
  • PCPCWhen fast traveling, the dead wastelander may spawn alive, using an invisible varmint rifle. The wastelander will also respawn everytime with one Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap in their inventory, allowing you to complete The Legend of the Star without the need of searching all over the Mojave, albeit you'll have to wait at least 3 or more days at a different location in order for the NPC to respawn again successfully.
  • PCPC The un-dead wastelander as explained above can sometimes start to stretch out and fly around like a ragdoll when he tries to melee attack scorpions but all suddenly return to normal living state as if he had been K.O'd
