From The Vault

Schematics - Deathclaw Gauntlet
uses: Schematics for Deathclaw Gauntlet
weight: 0
value: 800
base id: 000BAFFC

The Schematics needed to make the Unarmed weapon "Deathclaw Gauntlet".

Possessing multiple copies of schematics increases the initial repair condition of the weapon: One copy gives a condition percent equal to 75% of the player's repair skill, two gets 100%, and three gets 125%.

The Wasteland Settler that carries the schematics
  • The PC G.E.C.K. lists only three schematics, with the third found on a "random" NPC. He has the name "Wasteland Settler" and wears a Roving Trader Outfit. This NPC has been reported in random places (see "Corpse encounters" on that page). Also note that, possibly, there may be a game counter which makes you "due" for a random event - which is to say, if you have a random encounter and recently did a savegame, try loading the savegame... perhaps you can keep triggering it until you get the right one (but there are a lot of them).
The encounter instantiates as a dead Settler and a wounded Deathclaw. So if you unexpectedly encounter a live Deathclaw, or a firefight with other randoms and a dead Deathclaw, search the area where the Deathclaw was first seen for the Settler. Also note that most of the encounters seem to be in named map locations, as opposed to wide-open wilderness (but not all of them?).
    • If you want to test whether the Wasteland Settler with the Schematics has appeared (but you somehow missed him), use this to check - but be sure to save your game before trying:
      player.moveto 32b31
      • If the encounter has already fired, you will go to the NPC's location (where he will be at your feet, dead). Caution: The wounded Deathclaw may still be around.
      • If he has not yet appeared, there will be a blast of flesh as you materialize right where the NPC is (killing him), in a twilight-zone game area called the "Holding pen for free-form encounters". The NPC will be dead at your feet (with the schematic), and you can find other random encounter groups by walking around the vast plains. Reload old game to get back to reality. Alternatively, you can simply loot him and fast-travel to get back to the real world.
    • NOTE: The wounded Deathclaw/Wasteland Settler random encounter is one of many random encounters which can occur inside of the barn directly west of the entrance to Vault 101. Particularly lucky players (or persistent and patient players who have saved their game prior to approaching the barn) can obtain both the schematic and the hand from inside of the barn immediately after entering the Wasteland. With the availability of the other components inside of Springvile School -- and the available workbench inside of Craterside Supply in Megaton -- it is possible to build the Deathclaw Gauntlet as early as level 2, with no necessary exploration into more dangerous parts of the map.

On the PS3, a Deathclaw and the corpse of the dead settler was found when first approaching Super Duper Mart for the first chapter of the wastelanders survival guide. If you have picked up a sniper rifle by then, this is an easy kill.

[edit] Components

Once you have the schematics, you will need a workbench and one of each of the following items:

[edit] Component locations

Medical Braces can be found in many medical buildings (such as Doc Church's clinic in Megaton). Wonderglue may be the most common component, as it is quite often found inside of storage boxes, desks, file cabinets, toolboxes, and even mailboxes. The Deathclaw Hand can be looted from any slain Deathclaw.

Some reliable locations for components (with the exception of the Deathclaw Hand):

[edit] Notes

  • If the player.moveto 32b31 command is used to locate the dead settler before the random encounter has been activated, you will transport to an area called "Holding Pen for Random Encounters." It will most likely be empty except for the now eviscerated dead settler. Any followers you have at the time will not come with you, but they will return once you fast travel to a normal location.
