The sawed-off shotgun is a small gun in Fallout 2.
Background
A shotgun, also called a "scattergun," is a firearm designed to shoot a multitude of lead or steel balls of varying sizes, greatly increasing the weapon's hit potential. This makes it very effective at hunting game.[Non-game 1] However, the accuracy and power found at close range starts to diminish as the target gets farther away. Shotguns designed for the military's use are often called "combat shotguns."
Characteristics
A note should be made that it is the only shotgun that only needs one hand, making it quite useful early on for a One Hander. While this weapon is powerful, it can only fire two shots before having to be reloaded. To make the best of this, the enemy has to come close. For example, luring an enemy close and around a corner can lure the target in. If waiting close enough to the corner, one can wait as their enemy spends their turn in rounding the wall or object and squeeze off two unanswerable rounds to the head.
Locations
- John Cassidy, when recruited in Vault City, carries one.
- Frog Morton's Minions also carry them.
