Sally is a non-player character in the Fallout 3 add-on Mothership Zeta in the year 2277

Contents

[edit] Background

Sally is a child abducted along with her sister by aliens. Her parents were killed in the Great War, and her sister was killed by the Aliens, but the Aliens left her alive for unknown reasons. The fact that Sally was abducted during the Great War makes her at least 200 years old. Considering she resides in a cell and not in a cryo unit it is plausible to assume the aliens have done something to halt her aging due to some experiment or other. Sally is extremely knowledgeable about the Alien ship, having escaped from her holding cell multiple times to explore different areas and having "been here a while, a long while" in her own words.

[edit] Interactions with the player character

She will assist the Lone Wanderer throughout the Mothership Zeta quests by using her skills to open doors or to provide Intel as you move through the ship. After completion of the Mothership Zeta quests, Sally stays aboard the alien starship and scrounges for materials. The Lone Wanderer can return to the starship at any point and ask if she's found anything, and if she has she will give the items to the Lone Wanderer.

After completing the questline she'll search the ship for alien goods and every few hours, Sally will have items to give to the Lone Wanderer after exploring the ship. This is one of the main reasons that the Lone Wanderer should continue to regularly revisit the mothership if the Player plans on making full use of alien weapons or other unique alien items.

NOTE: If you want to exclusively get a certain item from her, you can manipulate what you receive the same way you can manipulate random encounters.

  • Items gained from her will give you free alien power modules of the amount shown above each time you talk to Sally for recent findings.

[edit] Inventory

Apparel Weapon Other item On death
Athlete of the Wastes Outfit - - N/A

[edit] Notes

  • She can not be pickpocketed. When attempted, you just talk to her.
  • Script DLC05SallyScript sets Sally as a ghost, making her immune to all weapons and making it impossible to pickpocket her.
  • With the Child At Heart Perk, you can ask her to lead you to a secret room with assorted alien gear.
  • During second mission, in the Core, Sally has been seen grabbing an alcoholic beverage from the bucket in the area near the decompression chamber and drinking it. This could be a scripting error, or a joke thrown in from Bethesda. (Confirmed on Xbox360)

[edit] Quotes

  • "Cows, we've got cows!"
  • "What an incredible smell you discovered,"

[edit] Appearances

Sally appears only in the Fallout 3 add-on Mothership Zeta.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • Sally's line, "Cows, we've got cows!" is a reference to a similar line spoken in the movie Twister.
  • When talking to her in the maintenance area you can say "What an incredible smell you discovered," which is a line from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
  • Sally's use of the air vents to move around the alien ship incognito is reminiscent of the character "Newt" from Aliens.
  • When Sally first climbs into a vent when unlocking a door for the player, the specific animation used as well as the three symbols above the vent are a reference to BioShock.

[edit] Bugs

  • After completing This Galaxy Ain't Big Enough..., Sally may become stuck behind the inoperable door in the captain's quarters. (Confirmed Xbox 360 and PC) Although it is impossible to get her out without the use of console commands, there is still a way to communicate with her and receive any items she has found on the ship. While near the door, press and hold the button/key which shifts the camera view. While holding it, move the camera around until the option to speak with Sally is available, and the problem is solved. Sometimes this may not always work, so try moving to the left and right. For a video walkthrough click here.
  • During the Mothership Zeta add-on Sally will crawl through a series of vents to open doors from the other side. While Sally is crawling through the vents, if you attempt to pick pocket her she will pop out of the vent and you will begin to talk to her. Therefore glitching the game and not allowing you to make further progress. (Confirmed on Xbox 360.
  • Sally can appear in Megaton and Rivet City, and wont be on Mothership Zeta when you are abducted. (Confirmed PC) This can be fixed on the PC once on the ship in the area she should be via the console - use prid xx000987 to select her, moveto player to bring her to you, then disable followed by enable, which should properly reset her script.
