The ruined book is a miscellaneous item in Fallout 4. There are two variants of this item, one with a lighter cover and one with a darker one.

A ruined book has no use whatsoever, apart from being used for decoration or as ammunition for the Junk Jet. Though it takes up no weight, it also has no value and cannot be scrapped for any material. They are not involved in any quests.
