Robert Newman (March 20, 1752 – May 26, 1804) was an American sexton at the Old North Church in Boston.

Background

A sexton for the church since 1772, Newman went to the bell tower with two fellow Patriots on the night of April 18, 1775, and lit two lanterns as part of a signal created by Paul Revere to warn that the British were using the Charles River to reach Lexington. Because the tower was, at the time, the tallest structure in the area, this signal was seen across town and allowed for Lexington to be alerted in time.

Notes

A plaque at the Old North Church in Fallout 4 mentions him and the lighting of the two lanterns.

Appearances

Robert Newman is mentioned only in Fallout 4.
