The market is closing soon. You'd better make it quick.

The Rivet City market is a location within Rivet City in Fallout 3.

Layout[]

The marketplace is the main business center of Rivet City on what used to be the aircraft carrier's hangar deck. There are five merchants there:

Notes[]

  • The market unlocks and opens for business at 8:00 AM. However, merchants will begin selling their goods at 7:00 AM even if they have not entered the marketplace yet.
  • If coming into the marketplace in the morning (around 8:00 or 9:00 AM), some of the merchants will be eating breakfast at Gary's Galley. The guards will say things along the lines of "[Merchant] is eating breakfast right now at the Gary's Galley, but they will still sell their goods if asked."
  • Even if they are nowhere near their shops, the merchants will say the greetings they would say if they were at their shops.
  • If the Lone Wanderer has not left the marketplace before closing time, the merchants and guards will ask them to leave and continuously follow them around until the Wanderer leaves or they turn hostile.
  • If Flak has already been enslaved as part of the Strictly Business quest, he will not be present. Due to a bug, if he is freed from Paradise Falls he will return to Rivet City, but when spoken to will simply give the generic 'freed slave' dialogue, rendering his repair services and those as a shop vendor unusable to console players. However, as both Flak and Shrapnel share the same store inventory, Shrapnel will retain his use in item repair and continue to sell any items Flak did previously.
  • Paladin Danse mentions opening his own junk stand in Rivet City when he was younger. It was at that time he befriended a man named Cutler, and together the two scraped by as traders.[1]

Appearances[]

  1. The Sole Survivor: "I'm flattered to hear this, but I feel like there's more."
Paladin Danse: "Is it that obvious? I've... never been very good at these things. Let me start at the beginning. I grew up alone in the Capital Wasteland. Spent most of my childhood picking through the ruins and selling scrap. When I was a bit older, and had a few caps to my name, I moved into Rivet City and opened a junk stand. While I was there, I met a guy named Cutler. We got along pretty well, watched each other's backs and kept each other out of trouble."
