Officer Richards is guarding the locked door to the Vault 101 entrance together with Officer O'Brian. They are responsible for the possible deaths of Tom and Mary Holden.
However, they do not have to be killed. It is possible to sneak past the hallway leading towards them and get up on the stairs. Officer Richards is one of the officers carrying a 10mm Pistol.
The Holdens will flee if the character gets shot at before Tom attempts his suicide run. Extra Karmic players may wish to utilize this to save the Holdens, and because the guards will rarely leave their post and chase the player the vault can be broken free from with minimal bloodshed.
