The Rapid-Torch Flamer is a weapon added in the Fallout 3 add-on Broken Steel.
[edit] Location
The Rapid-Torch Flamer is located in the Adams Storage Facility, slightly south of where the Enclave Mobile Base was located. It will be on a counter along with several missiles, two Mini Nukes, a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum and other odds and ends.
- It is weaker than the other unique Flamer added by Broken Steel, the Slo-Burn Flamer.
- It can be more efficient than the Slo-Burn Flamer, due to the fact that the Rapid Torch needs to reload 1/3rd as often, and it deals more damage per unit of flamer fuel.
- Without Pyromaniac it is about 1/2 as effective as the other unique Flamer in the game, the Burnmaster.
- Despite the damage of this weapon being nothing special, the critical multiplier of 4 can significantly boost damage with the right perks and stats. With 18% base critical chance from 10 luck, Survival Expert, and Finesse, this weapon has a critical chance of 72%. Combined with Better Criticals and Pyromaniac, this weapon is deadly indeed.
[edit] Difference compared to the Flamer
Rapid-Torch Flamer's stats are almost 100% identical to the regular Flamer. Only thing different compared to normal Flamer is attack animation. The difference in animation has actual in game impact, although minor. With Rapid-Torch Flamer, it's enough to quickly tap with mouse (or button on consoles) and you'll fire your flamer, expending 1 point of ammo in the process. With regular Flamer, there is slight delay before fire gets out, so in order to just expend 1 point of ammo you need to hold fire button a little bit (but not too long to expend two ammo points). Therefore, with the Rapid-Torch, you can conserve ammo a bit better then with a regular Flamer.
