In the year 2271, the Desert Rangers of Nevada and rangers of the New California Republic met at this spot to sign the Ranger Unification Treaty. Under this treaty, the Desert Rangers agreed to be absorbed into the NCR in exchange for NCR's protection of Hoover Dam, New Vegas, and southern Nevada against the forces of Caesar's Legion.”— Mojave Outpost Plaque Message
The Ranger Unification Treaty is a treaty between the Desert Rangers of Nevada and the New California Republic. As a result of this treaty, the NCR gained control of the Mojave and the Desert Rangers were absorbed into the ranks of the NCR Rangers so that the two groups could, ostensibly, work together for the benefit of New Vegas and the surrounding wasteland.
The Ranger Unification Treaty is mentioned in Fallout: New Vegas.
Behind the scenesEdit
This treaty is one of several subtle references to the late 1980s computer game Wasteland, which was the inspiration for the Fallout series. In Wasteland, the player controlled a team of "Desert Rangers" defending the post-apocalyptic Las Vegas area.
