The following is based on Fallout Tactics and some details might contradict canon.
Found everywhere, the 12 gauge pump is a popular means of self-defense due to its wide area of effect and large ammunition capacity.

The Ithaca Model 37, called Pump-action Shotgun in game, is a Fallout Tactics weapon.

[edit] Notes

  • It's a great weapon to use against Raiders, Beastlords and their "pets", but will become not very powerful when used against Deathclaws and Super Mutants. Against Robots, it can become quite good when it's loaded with 12 Gauge EMP Shells.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • The Ithaca Model 37 is a pump-action shotgun produced in 1937. It's made in large numbers for the civilian, military, and police markets. Also known as the Featherlight, it utilizes a novel combination ejection/loading port on the bottom of the gun which leaves the sides closed to the elements. In addition, the outline of the gun is clean. Finally, since shells load and eject from the bottom, operation of the gun is equally convenient from either side of the gun. This makes the gun popular with left-handed and right-handed shooters alike.
  • The variant of the Ithaca Model 37, shown here, appears to be the Homeland Security variant because of the wooden handguard and the stock behind the trigger.
