The prost bar is an unmarked location in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston in 2287. It is southwest of the Massachusetts State House and directly west of the gazebo in Boston Common.

Layout[]

The location has a main room and two small adjoining rooms, including an office and a room with a pool table connected to a bathroom. In the office is a Novice-locked safe and a Master-locked steamer trunk. There are no living occupants, and the building is littered with skeletons.

Notes[]

While the Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide lists the location as belonging to Boston Common, the cell name hints that it is part of Beacon Hill. The exit to the bar refers to it as being in Back Bay.

Appearances[]

The prost bar appears only in Fallout 4.

Behind the scenes[]

The bar is a replica of the layout from the bar on the television show Cheers, an American sitcom from 1982–1993 starring Ted Danson and Shelley Long and set in Boston.

  • There are several baseball posters around the bar, a reference to Ted Danson's character and bar owner Sam Malone, who had a baseball background.
  • Behind the bar, there are two skeletons on the floor holding hands. This is a reference to Sam Malone and Diane Chambers, his on-again, off-again lover during the show.
  • A the northwest corner of the bar, a solitary skeleton is wearing a tattered formal shirt and pants. This is a reference to Frasier Crane, who became the star of his own spin-off show, Frasier.
  • At the southwest corner of the bar, one of the two skeletons is wearing a postman's outfit. This is a reference to Cliff Clavin, who was also a postman. The other skeleton is a reference to Norm Peterson, who was good friends with Clavin and often sat with him at the bar.
  • Prost! is a German term which translates to Cheers!, as used when giving a toast.
