Easily the most powerful energy company in the world prior to the Great War, Poseidon Energy had its fingers in virtually all forms of renewable and non-renewable power sources. Though most of the public knew that Poseidon was a huge corporation and didn’t particularly trust them, very few people were aware that several companies owned by Poseidon were given lucrative defense contracts by the U.S. government – or rather, by Enclave members working as lobbyists for their contracts (it seems Enclave members were employed by Poseidon as lobbysts). Most of Poseidon’s most promising projects never reached their final stages.

Though not technically part of the Enclave, many powerful corporations benefited from the Enclave’s actions and their research facilities were protected during the firestorm of 2077. Chief among these was Poseidon Energy, whose facilities continue to be used by the broken remnants of the Enclave following the Chosen One’s assassination of the Enclave’s U.S. President and the destruction of their Poseidon oil tanker headquarters off of the California coast.

[edit] Known Poseidon Energy branches

There were several companies owned by Poseidon Energy (its names are not certain). There were also some Poseidon Energy branches like Prometheus Coal, Poseidon Oil, Poseidon Gasoline or PoseidoNet (however it is not certain, if those branches were companies). Because of some AGRICOLA ties it was possible, that Poseidon was present in the Grand Canyon uranium mining business also.

Prometheus Coal in 2039 opened a coal mine in central Utah (Eagle's Rock mine complex). In 2066 this mine was sold to the U.S. government for radioactive waste dump.

Poseidon Oil was powerplants and oil rig operator (known example of powerplant - Poseidon Power Plant No. 12 in Gecko). Together with the Enclave it helped to finance Senator Todd Peterson's secret bunker also.

Poseidon Gasoline was present at Los Angeles as well as in Navarro.

Abpout 500 users on the oil rig in 2241.

• PoseidoNet computer stations accesible from Poseidon Power Plant No. 12 - Poseidon Oil Reactor No. 5 (online) in 2241:
  • two on the oil rig, one of them was Vault-Research Control station used by the Enclave main command,
  • one in Camp Navarro (not found by Chosen One),
• other PoseidoNet stations on the oil rig:
  • public Data Plex 2000 SmarTerminal on Entry Level,
  • eight Data Plex 2000 SmarTerminals on Reactor Level,
• there were two separated computer stations on PMV Valdez also:
  • terminal limited to transmissions between ship and docking rig (while plugged into the oil rig docking facilities - linked into Encalve net probably),
  • Navigational Computer secured by FOB lock.

[edit] Known Poseidon facilities

• The oil rig 175 miles off the coast of California was the home base for the Enclave. It is unknown whether the platform was originally constructed for this purpose (presumably through a secret military-industrial contract) or was later converted. It is referred at source files as a "station" also.
• One of the largest known ships still afloat, the PMV Valdez was last seen anchored at the dock in San Francisco.
• One of their atomic power plants - Poseidon Power Plant No. 12 with remained in use after the war Reactor No.5. In year 2241 it was operated by ghouls settled there (they were able to tolerate the low radiation levels).
• Private data network, PoseidonNet, was still found to be in operation after the war. Used by the Enclave, it was further evidence of Poseidon strong links with government.

• AGRICOLA lab at Eagle's Rock mine complex, Utah (the entrance looked like a pre-vault, Poseidon Energy logos were present, Agricola Fire Suppression Module was needed - possible to find in Grand Canyon, its main computer enabled command on AGRICOLA mining bots).

Very few people were aware that several companies owned by Poseidon were given lucrative defense contracts by the U.S. government – or rather, by Enclave members working as lobbyists for their contracts. Most of Poseidon’s most promising projects never reached their final stages. In their paranoid dreams for a coup against the real U.S. government, the Enclave kept their special toys out of military consciousness until it was too late to actually use them.

After the War Poseidon does not exist as a real force in the world. However, tech scavengers like the Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave still try in vain to decipher Poseidon plans and either confiscate them or turn them into working models, respectively.

There were a bunch of unfinished Enclave/Poseidon projects that science-oriented characters could complete (the story behind the projects was planned to help tie the Enclave to Poseidon).

• APOLLO - Laser Pistol,
• ARES - Plasma Spear,
• ARTEMIS - Light Rail Gun,
• ATHENA - Advanced Power Armor, TL 9,
• HERAKLES - Power Fist,
• HERMES - Advanced Combat Armor, TL 9,
• NEMEAN - Sub-dermal ballistic armor implants,
• PHOENIX - Sub-dermal thermal armor implants, like the ones received in the Fallout 2.

• In the larger world's background ODYSSEUS, also known as ULYSSES, was is an extremely advanced AI created by Derek Greenway and developed by Poseidon Energy. Its two names emphasize the difference between Poseidon's Greek names and Greenway's Roman names (see also: Diana).
• AGRICOLA mining bot.
• T6 Fusion Generator was a sixth generation TRIDENT class fusion generator from Poseidon Energy. It was relatively large and inefficient, mostly used for the powering of vaults and other small, isolated settlements. Present at malfunctioning Vault present at van Buren tech demo. Despite of fact, that Navarro was Poseidon facility, there were built-in Wattz power generator.

It is not certain, if it were Poseidon projects:

• ARGOS - the robotic juggernaut controlled by ODYSSEUS (mythological Odysseus'es dog),
• CRB-S or Cerberus - 3 giant robotic dogs used by Denver Police Department.

Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea as well as of horses and of earthquakes. His weapon and symbol being the trident. Poseidon projects were codenamed with Greek mythology names:

• weapons with gods names,
• implants with creatures names,
• robots with dog names (exeption: AGRICOLA - latin name for "farmer"),
• AI with hero's name,
• branch with titan's name.

• Fallout - Poseidon Gasoline present on the Boneyard map screen.
• Fallout 2 - a lot of Poseidon Oil remnants as well as Poseidon Gasoline filling station at Navarro and presence of PoseidoNet.
• Some Poseidon remnants, projects and products were planned to appear in van Buren. Poseidon Energy was van Buren idea.
