Guns Forum

Howdy folks. The most recent discussions moderator (DM) request has raised a couple of questions in my mind I'd like to discuss before we have any more. Now, right from the get-go, I understand that just bringing these topics up may cause some consternation, especially with discussions users, so I'm gonna take a few minutes to set the stage properly.

NOTY

By Peace'n Hugs

As Christmas and New Year are at our doorsteps, we will have our annual contest to show appreciation for those users who have had a great influence on our Wikia this year. As many of you may remember from previous years, the Nukapedian of the Year is to be the user who has had the greatest positive influence on the Wikia in the year 2016. The very idea of "positive influence" is open to interpretation, so its definition may vary between each user. In the past years, this blog series had been organized by one of our former admins, Skire, who sadly resigned this year. I'm honored though to continue this tradition this year and would like to thank him for giving us the great tradition.

Here we have the first stage of the contest: nominations.

I've been working on an update to the front page. The idea is to cut down on a lot of the text, and make it more visually appealing, as well as creating a new model for portal pages and mobile pages.

Welcome

By Agent_c

Hi Folks, Welcome to the new live news page.

This was spawned out of me getting fed up missing some news as I was never quite sure if I should publish a whole news digest for a few minor pieces, or wait a few days... Typically I'd choose the latter, and then stories would go stale simply because I was waiting for something more.

From now on no compromises. The latest will always be here, and we can update the "digest" whenever we need to.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to invite you all to join our NewsSquad. If you think you have what it takes, simply write an article in your blogspace on the wiki and add it to my talk page and I'll be in touch. If you have a suggestion but don't want to write it yourself, please email us at the usual address - nukapedia@gmail.com.

Its still early days, so please, comment with any feedback or suggestions you have. We have a new logo on the way, and the colour schemes might change a bit.

Thanks for visiting, and stay safe out there.

Bugs

By -bleep196-

Hi guys, back at the end of April I began a Discussion about adding on to our existing bug policies for the sake of trimming down the amount of space bugs visibly take up on a page, such that on pages where their are more bugs than actual content, the bugs don't overshadow the important content. This idea involved the use of the Notable content template which allows bugs to be hidden beneath a collapsible, while still showing 5 bugs at the top of the section. (Credit for this idea goes to Jspoelstra as he had already begun implementing something like this long before I even thought about it). During the hosted forum discussion I held a very productive discussion which made me aware of some other issues with our current policies.

In addition to the issue of brevity and space, the notability clause in the bugs section is quite vague. At the time that these policies were created, I merely drew from the existing policy, as I didn't believe notability would be that big of an issue. Since that time, however, the number of both bugs reported, and bug sections in articles has increased on a massive scale. As such I think it's time to also reevaluate what bugs we consider appropriate to report.

Thirdly, I would also like to propose an additional policy, and by direct implication, a uniform organizational format for bug section presentations such that entries are presented in descending impact on gameplay/immersion (where game crashes/save corruptions are at the top). This has a direct tie in to the notable content template use in that it will place game breaking bugs within the topmost 5 entries that will be visible when said template is used.

Results

The poll has now come to a close. The decision for these policies now lies with the BC's. I just remembered that Policies do not have to go through the BC's deliberation like special rights requests, therefore by Majority vote all three proposals pass. I'd like to thank everyone who threw in their opinion, as it's given me a better and broader view on how our editors, especially those among the staff, feel about bugs and how we handle them. These policy proposals have passed, but in regards to the first proposal which was, arguably, the most controversial, I will continue to pursue a more visible method of collapsing larger sections. I can't do it tonight, but tomorrow I will add each policy to our existing bug policy pages with with revisions for clarity and specificity. ---bleep196- (talk) 16:04, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

Template documentation (for the template shown above, sometimes hidden or invisible)

This page is the "Archive" page for a section of the Live news Page.

It is recommended that old headlines be left here for archive purposes.

USING THIS PAGE

Organisation

Firstly, you should use a H2 headline before your article, just for organisational purposes.

If you are pulling multiple articles, you should surround the headline with "NoInclude" tags to stop it being pulled through the transclusion.

Eg:

<noinclude> ==Headline== </noinclude>

Pulling an article

If you're trying to pull multiple ones, leave off the <section end="LiveNewsPage" /> until the end of the last article, and do not place a second <section begin="LiveNewsPage" /> tag.

Headline only

This version only presents the Green Headline.
