For the head of the Wright family in Fallout 2, see Orville Wright.
Orville Wright (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948) was an inventor, who, alongside his brother Wilbur Wright, is credited with the creation of the first airplanes. However, the pair also owned a printing press and a bicycle company.
Orville Wright was born in Dayton, Ohio and dropped out of high school in 1889 to start a printing company alongside his elder brother Wilbur, who had helped him to design and build the press. The pair then opened a bicycle repair and sales shop in 1892, capitalizing on the craze for the new safety bikes that was sweeping the nation (named in part for their immense advantages over the penny-farthing). In 1896, the pair even created their own brand of bicycles and began manufacturing them.
Using the profits from this business, the two brothers funded their growing interest in the field of flight and aeronautics. This eventually paid out massively, as they invented the very first controlled and powered craft that was heavier than a man, the Wright Flyer. This took its debut flight on 17 December 1903, lasting over 12 seconds, being the first sustained flight of it's kind in human history. Orville was also the pilot of this first flight.
Orville Wright is only mentioned in Fallout 3.
