The Old State House is an unmarked location in Goodneighbor in 2287.

Background[]

Built in 1713, the Old State House is the oldest public building in Boston. During the years before the Revolutionary War, this building was a hotbed for the ideas and ideals that would result in revolution. According to John Adams, it was here where "the child Independence was born." In 1770, right outside its doors, the Boston Massacre took place, spurring the American colonists into action. The Old State House was the seat of Massachusetts government until the New State House was constructed in 1798.[1]

Surviving the Great War completely intact, it now serves as the government building and town hall of Goodneighbor, and functions as the bunkhouse of the Neighborhood Watch as well as John Hancock’s residence.[2]

Layout[]

The Old State House is to the north upon entering Goodneighbor, across from the shop Kill or Be Killed. The building has four accessible levels, including a basement, a first floor, a second floor, and an attic. The Third Rail is located in a former subway station under the basement, but cannot be accessed from here.

First floor[]

The first floor is built around a central spiral staircase leading to the second floor and the basement. The first floor has two rooms, including a small museum filled with display cases in the east, and a break room for the Neighborhood Watch in the west.

Second floor and attic[]

The second floor contains another break room with a door exiting to the balcony to the east, and Hancock's living quarters with his private terminal to the west. The second floor also contains a stairway near the spiral staircase leading up to the attic where the drifters sleep.

Basement[]

The basement contains a prison cell for the uncommon lawbreakers of Goodneighbor who don't end up dead from their transgressions.
