The OSI, established in 2275[1], is the primary research and development agency within the NCR, following the breaking of ties with the Followers of the Apocalypse. Their research ranges from fields such as medicine, farming, industry, electricity generation, etc. They are also responsible for directing water and electricity from Hoover Dam to NCR settlements in the Core Region and to the NCR Sharecropper Farms.
The OSI branches are divided depending on their locations. The main branch, OSI Central is located in Shady Sands and the lab based in Camp McCarran is the headquarters of the OSI East branch.
