The Nipton Town Hall is an unmarked location within Nipton in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background

Main article: Massacre of Nipton

The town hall has served as the civic center for the unincorporated town of Nipton both before and after the Great War.

By 2281, the corruption and rampant thievery and prostitution under then-Mayor Joseph B. Steyn had resulted in Nipton developing a seedy reputation. With the town serving soldiers of the New California Republic in the night and Powder Gangers in the day, keeping both groups separate, Steyn's greed led to him attempting to sell out both groups to Caesar's Legion, specifically working with the frumentarius Vulpes Inculta.

That was Steyn's and the town of Nipton's undoing, as Vulpes and his small legionary force instead captured everyone in the town, then subjected them to a lottery. With their fates chosen via lottery tickets, by the end of it, every person in Nipton was either dead, crucified, or enslaved, with only two survivors left to talk about it.

Layout

Situated on the north end of the town, the hall is composed of three floors and a basement, which are booby-trapped with frag mines. The only enemies inside the hall itself are a number of Legion mongrels which will attack (unless one has the Animal Friend perk).

Cellar

A worn key can be found behind the reception desk, which unlocks the Hard locked door to the cellar. The door is located directly past reception to the right. Down the staircase, there is a sitting area, vending machines, a large amount of scattered food and some Turbo. A first aid kit can be found on the wall and five lottery tickets on the floor and table.

First floor

Behind the double doors leading to Nipton, one will enter the reception area. The remains of the town's citizens are strewn about on the floor and over furniture. A frag mine is located behind the front desk.

In the corridor, more remains can be found, amid discarded lottery tickets. There are two staircases, on both sides of the main corridor. The eastern steps have the remains of both a mongrel and a wastelander.

Second floor

On the second floor, one will find a large assembly hall with chairs lining the perimeter, a raised platform and a long table. There is a body booby-trapped with a frag mine in the office across from the eastern stairs. Offices flank the main hallway. Six more lottery tickets can be found throughout the assembly hall.

Third floor

The third floor has a different layout than the preceding two, containing the mayor's expansive office behind two executive offices. In the hallway, one will find vending machines. Throughout the executive offices, there are refrigerators with food and drinks, as well as first aid kits on the walls.

The mayor's office is ornate, with a desk containing his terminal and cabinet behind containing a copy of Big Book of Science, Future Weapons Today and Programmer's Digest, along with Mentats next to a stack of lottery tickets. The shelf also contains a laser pistol. Behind the desk is an Average locked door revealing a closet containing a gun cabinet and shelving with more supplies, including a bottle of Nuka-Cola Victory, cartons of cigarettes, a 10mm pistol and ammunition.

Notable loot

  • Worn key - Upon entering the town hall, directly to the right, behind the counter. This key unlocks the basement door on the right down the hall.
  • Big Book of Science - On the mayor's desk on the third floor.
  • Mayor Steyn's journal - Added when reading an entry on Steyn's terminal.
  • A Nuka-Cola Victory - On a shelf behind the locked door in the mayor's office.

Appearances

The Nipton Town Hall appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Bugs

  • PCPC The Legion flag above the town hall will not show the faction's logo and instead, will rotate between several other textures, including branches, birds, the ground and water.[verified]
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Boone or ED-E will not enter the town hall's first floor but instead will teleport to the assembly room floor when the Courier enters that floor. This can take place after killing all the Legion personnel outside the hall. [verified]
