Nicolaus Copernicus was a Polish astronomer, best known for his model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at its center.
Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer during the Renaissance. He became famous with his book De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, in which he brings forward his model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at its center. This would later be called the Copernican Revolution.
