[edit] Walkthrough
Murphy is a ghoul scientist stationed just inside Northwest Seneca Station who is working on an improved version of the drug Jet, known as Ultrajet. However, he needs your help with one of the ingredients: Sugar Bombs.
For every box of sugar bombs that you bring him, he offers to pay you 15 caps which can be increased to 30 caps by passing a Speech check. You can then purchase 1 Ultrajet from him (around 70 caps each) for every 8 boxes of Sugar Bombs you turn in.

[edit] Notes
- The first time Murphy offers you a look at his inventory, which includes Ultrajet and a handful of other drugs, he will have zero caps. Once you purchase Ultrajet from Murphy, you can sell him any items in your own inventory to get some or all of the caps back. However, any items you sell him will automatically disappear from his inventory, so do not sell him anything important.
[edit] Bugs
- Sometimes if you give him over 8 Sugar Bombs at once the speech option to give him more will disappear. To correct this reload the game. (Confirmed)
- Giving Murphy 8 or more boxes of Sugar Bombs results in Murphy taking ALL of your Sugar Bombs, without paying you a single cap. To fix this, drop some of your Sugar Bombs (Far away from him else he will take them himself) and give him a number of boxes UNDER 8, then pick the rest up and give him them. (So long as there are UNDER 8 boxes, then there should be no problem.)
- If you take Sergeant RL-3, Dogmeat or Fawkes to see Murphy in the station, they may attack Murphy and his bodyguard.
- There are some instances where Murphy will take all your Sugar Bombs but give you no caps. The only known way to fix this is to save before giving him everything.
- If you give Murphy a large amount of boxes (Say, 24), he will not give you your caps or sell the maximum amount of Ultra-Jet that he could for that 24. However giving him one more box of sugar bombs seems to fix this.
