Smith is a ragged farmer[1] who, with his family, works the land outside of Vault City to make ends meet, although he doesn't know how much longer that will last. Farming is tough without a plow and the Smiths could get a lot more done if they got the equipment.

Get a plow for Mr. Smith: He can give the Chosen One a quest to acquire a plow from Happy Harry's. The plow can be bought for $800. After a successful Barter check (51%), the plow's price can go down to $600. After completing the quest, Mr. Smith will give the Chosen One a Desert Eagle, which is worth more than $600.
