The Mirelurk Hunter is a vicious Mirelurk with much greater speed and substantially higher damage resistance than standard Mirelurks. It differs in appearance from a standard Mirelurk in that it has a brownish coloration, some extra vestigial limbs on its front and is also about 2 feet taller. It also has spikes sticking out of the shoulders of its carapace.

Mirelurk Hunters have about as much health as a Super Mutant Brute, and slightly more health than a Yao Guai. However, their damage-resisting carapaces cause them to take 1/2 damage from all attacks directed at their bodies. This gives them durability equal to that of a Deathclaw, unless you target their unarmored face.

[edit] Strategy

This beast should never be taken lightly as the damage this creature can inflict is comparable to an attack by a Yao Guai or a Deathclaw, although it is still less than anything those creatures could do. They begin to appear in greater numbers as the player levels up. If the player is at a high enough level, they may find Vault 92 and the Anchorage War Memorial filled with them.

Dealing with them is no different than a standard Mirelurk. Simply aim for the face from as far away as possible. Alternatively if you prefer melee weapons you can use the Deathclaw Gauntlet to ignore their armour.

[edit] Notes

[edit] Bugs

Mirelurk Hunters cannot be knocked down, be it with Frag Grenades, the Victory Rifle, or the Electro-Suppressor.
