Micky is a water beggar outside Megaton in Fallout 3.

Background[]

Driven slightly demented by lack of sustenance, and fearful of his life after a narrow escape from the raider gang holed up in the Springvale school, Micky made it to the entrance of Megaton by late 2277 and began begging for water,[Non-game 1] specifically purified water, as he is so sickly that he cannot drink irradiated water any more without vomiting.[1][2] However, Megaton only gives water to its residents, or those that can pay for it.[3]

Micky remains hopeful that someone will be kind enough to give him water.[Non-game 1] Truthfully, that is his only hope, as he is out of caps and so could not possibly buy water.[4][5][6] Even the Brotherhood of Steel's water caravans would not simply hand out Aqua Pura to wasteland beggars.[7] Though he is jaded by his experiences,[8][9] he will be very grateful for any help given.[10][11][12]

This character is involved in quests.

Quests[]

  • Water Beggars: The Lone Wanderer may give Micky purified water (and Aqua Pura, during Broken Steel) for a small amount of good Karma.
  • Holy Water: During the quest, Micky will be replaced by a character named as a generic water beggar (who has the same appearance, inventory, and stats), regardless of whether Micky is already dead or not. Approaching Megaton's entrance from outside will cause a scene to play in which Rosa, a well-meaning wastelander, gives him water that she did not realize had been irradiated by the Apostles of the Eternal Light, killing him.[13][14]
    • Micky's death scene can be avoided entirely if the player fast travels straight into Megaton and progresses the quest by collecting a holy water pamphlet, or if they head directly to the Holy Light Monastery and speak to Brother Gerard. Provided that the water beggar is still alive at the end of the quest, and Micky was alive before the quest started, the regular version of Micky will return after the quest ends.

Effects of player's actions[]

  • Like the other beggars, Micky will die if given Aqua Pura, infected with the modified FEV or not. If one explicitly refuses to give him water (in conversation), he will die the next time the area is loaded.
  • If Megaton is destroyed, Micky disappears from the game.

Bugs[]

Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 The player character may walk up to Megaton to find Micky's skin has not been rendered. This allows one to see only Micky's eyes floating and then the back of his hair. When starting dialogue with Micky, the player character's view darts off to the right.[verification overdue]
