The mantis gauntlet is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics
Visually, the weapon consists of a severed mantis foreleg, reinforced with metal bars and leather straps and fitted to the wielder's forearm by a medical brace or something similar. A handle on the "blade" allows stability.
Variants
- Embrace of the Mantis King!, a unique variant of the Mantis gauntlet.
Locations
The mantis gauntlet is found very commonly at higher levels in the Honest Hearts add-on, often used by the White Legs.
Outside of Honest Hearts, the mantis gauntlet is rarely sold by certain weapons vendors, particularly those dealing in very rare items:
- Quartermaster Bardon at the Hoover Dam. (Level 12 or above)
- The Great Khan Armorer at the Great Khan armory near Spring Mt. Ranch State Park. (Level 12 or above and good reputation with the Great Khans)
- Mick of Mick & Ralph's in Freeside. (Level 12 or above)
- Miguel's Pawn Shop in Westside. (Level 12 or above)
- Blake at the Crimson Caravan Company. (Level 16 or above)
Notes
The following is based on Fallout: New Vegas cut content. |
- The mantis gauntlet was to be a crafted weapon, similar to the deathclaw gauntlet from Fallout 3. Several resources, including an item called Schematics - Mantis Scythe point to this, though the inconsistency of the remaining resources as well as their only partial implementation make the specifics unclear.
End of information based on Fallout: New Vegas cut content |
- The mantis gauntlet had its DT bypassing effect removed in a patch.
Bugs
- When used it has the same sound effects of a power fist, unless the player uses a power attack. Corrected in the recent patch.
