Lorenzo's Crown is an unobtainable apparel item worn by Lorenzo Cabot in Fallout 4.

Background[]

Lorenzo Cabot discovered this artifact during an archaeological dig for the lost city of Ubar in the Rub' al Khali desert in 1894. It was found in the tomb of a non-human entity, which Lorenzo took as proof of his theory of a non-human precursor to human civilization, and was the only item removed from the tomb. Lorenzo began wearing the crown the night after its discovery, after which he seemingly gained a revelation about the precursors and opted to return to Boston.[1]

When Lorenzo put the artifact on his head, it fused to his nervous system, granting him enhanced strength, resistances, localized telekinesis, and immortality, at the apparent cost of his sanity.[2] Lorenzo himself claims that the artifact allows him to communicate with the precursor civilization, and that the knowledge they gave him has expanded his worldview to the degree that he now considers human laws and morals as obstacles.[3] As a result, Lorenzo committed a number of serious crimes which would have given him the death penalty if not for his family's influence. Instead, believing him to be a danger and unable to remove the artifact, his son Jack had Lorenzo and the artifact locked away below Parsons State Insane Asylum.[4][5]

The artifact itself has an internal power supply and its effects can only be controlled via direct neural input, as was the case with Lorenzo Cabot.[6][7]

Location[]

Lorenzo wears the crown in his cell below Parsons State Insane Asylum, but it is unobtainable without the use of console commands. Even then, the artifact is not visible to the player in item menus, and can only be spawned with the command player.placeatme 001467F5. However, NPCs or armor racks can be made to wear the artifact via the command equipitem 001467F5.

Notes[]

The scarab on the crown is the same one used to make Lorenzo's Artifact gun.

  3. The Sole Survivor: "I was curious about the ancient artifact you always wear."
Lorenzo Cabot: "Jack spent so many futile years trying to understand this. I could have told him everything he wanted to know. Through it, I commune with the ancient minds that founded our civilization. Whether they live within it, or it communicates with them through time or space, or whether it simply holds their memories... I don't know. What I do know is that it has widened my horizons beyond the tiny scope granted to normal men. I spent my long captivity exploring the memories of the ancients - their arts and sciences, their philosophy and worldview."

  4. The Sole Survivor: "Where do you get this serum from?"
Jack Cabot: "My father, Lorenzo Cabot, is... confined in Parsons. He became dangerously unstable after handling an artifact he found on an archaeological dig in Arabia. He gained various seemingly paranormal powers... as well as becoming increasingly irrational and violent. In the end, I had no choice but to confine him - for his own safety as well as ours."
Wilhelmina Cabot: "Jack! Are you sure it's wise, telling him/her all this?"
Jack Cabot: "In the course of my attempts to cure him, I discovered that the artifact had introduced... anomalies into his blood. So, the source of his insanity is also the basis of the treatments that have prolonged all our lives. The irony isn't lost on me."
(Jack Cabot's and Wilhelmina Cabot's dialogue)
  5. The Sole Survivor: "What would he have done if he'd gotten free?"
Jack Cabot: "Oh, he would have killed both of us. And then the rest of my family. And that would only have been the beginning. His crimes, back when he was free... It was only because of my family's influence that he ended up here rather than on Death Row. The world now... it's a world made for monsters. Nothing could have stopped him. No. I've answered my own question. We truly had no choice."
    (Jack Cabot's dialogue)
  6. Jack Cabot: "Ah, you're back. Good news! I figured out how to access the artifact's telekinesis effect. I've hooked it up to this old laser rifle. There's no way to control it without direct neural input - for better or worse, all of that was destroyed when my father died. But you still have a rather powerful directed force. Here, see what you think."
    (Jack Cabot's dialogue)
  7. The Sole Survivor: "How does it work?"
Jack Cabot: "It uses standard energy cells for power - the artifact's internal power supply was destroyed. Otherwise... point and shoot. It doesn't kill people but you may still be able to find some use for it. As for myself... I don't know. Maybe I'll finally travel to the Southwest. My father was always convinced that there was another alien city buried somewhere in the Mojave Desert."
    (Jack Cabot's dialogue)
