The following is based on information from Fallout Shelter or Fallout Shelter Online. |
The living quarters is a room that can be built in Fallout Shelter.
Overview
The living quarters allows for a population limit increase in a vault and vault dwellers to create a baby. It is one of the facilities available at the start of the game.
Two dwellers of different sexes will talk and (if they are not family members) eventually dance, followed by rushing to the bedroom to make the female dweller pregnant. How long it takes for them to rush to the bedroom depends on the Charisma stat of the dwellers. You must be actively playing for the last step to occur. Pregnancies last for three hours, and it takes three additional hours for the child to become an adult.
During an incident, pregnant dwellers, children and pets will hide in living quarters until the threat is cleared.

Bugs
Female dwellers can glitch into a permanent pregnant state; suspected to be caused by removing the room they conceived in before giving birth.[verified] - Fixed in version 1.0.3 for iOS.
Version 1.4 for Android OS (on an ASUS Zenfone 5): Newly impregnated dwellers may emerge from the bedroom impossible to pick up. This may be fixed by closing and re-opening the app. Likewise, if an incident causes them to flee, once the incident is over and they return they will once again be able to be picked up.
