Lessons in Blood is a companion perk in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka-World.

Obtaining[]

To gain the perk, the Sole Survivor has to reach maximum affinity with Porter Gage.

Effects[]

The player characters gains +5% more XP per kill and +10 Damage Resistance.

Please note that the damage resistance applies to not only ballistic damage resistance but also to energy resistance as well. This is not specified in the perk's description in-game.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One If one enters combat during Gage's final affinity conversation, the perk will not be unlocked and the player character will not be able to re-initiate the conversation without reloading a previous save.[verified]

In Survival difficulty, where console commands are not allowed and saving is limited, the glitch can be bypassed by reaching max affinity by crafting a cheap weapon every 48 hours in Gage's presence. The Sole Survivor should go to Nuka-World marketplace, sleep for 48 hours in the bed next to Aaron Corbet, craft a weapon at the nearby workbench, sleep another 48 hours and so on until the final affinity dialogue is triggered. This will quickly cause Starvation and Severe Dehydration, but if the run between the workbench and the bed is fast enough, the damage will not start—though when the final affinity dialogue is initiated, it is necessary to eat and drink enough to prevent the Sole Survivor from dying during the dialogue. It is possible for a crafting glitch to occur: if this happens, Gage won't Like the Sole Survivor's crafting. In this case, go to the third and oldest save (older than the 48 hours for the glitched crafting,) use that third and unaffected save to save over the glitched saves, and continue until the perk is granted.

    • PCPC With affinity over 1000, this can be fixed using the console command setstage DLC04COMGage 220 with Gage selected.
    • Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One The problem can be fixed by doing things he dislikes, such as drinking vodka until developing an addiction, then continue drinking, waiting two hours, and drinking again, over and over. He will eventually deliver an affinity dialogue, rather than a break up dialogue.
