Yeah, a bunch of those Legion fucks dragged them off right away. They were headed east, if you're feeling heroic.Boxcars

The Legion raid camp is a location in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

When Vulpes Inculta orchestrated the sacking of Nipton, including burning Mayor Steyn on a pile of tires,[1] according to Boxcars, the third place "runner-ups" of the Nipton "lottery" were enslaved by the Legion, at least two of which ended up at the raid camp.[2]

Layout[]

Situated northeast of Wolfhorn ranch, midway between Walking Box Cavern and Broc flower cave, the camp consists of two levels created by the natural landmasses. There is a storage tent and two red tents on the upper level, each containing four bed rolls and two footlockers. Taking items from the footlockers results in negative Karma. On the lower level, there is one more tent, which may have a few legionaries sleeping inside. Each level has a campfire, and in all, there will be up to five legionaries residing at the camp.

A patrol of two to four legionaries will be walking a perimeter around the camp. NCR patrols sometimes travel near the raid camp and will engage in firefights with the Legion patrol. Two Powder Gangers will be found kneeling around the campfire as part of Booted. Sometimes, the camp will be attacked by two or more night stalkers. The night stalkers may kill everyone in the camp, the hostages included which renders Booted unable to complete.

Related quests[]

  • Booted: Boxcars will relate that some of the victims of the Nipton lottery were enslaved by the Legion but could still be rescued by the Courier, not that he'd be grateful.
  • I Forgot to Remember to Forget: Bringing Boone along to help kill the legionaries and rescue the "innocent" hostages will invite a reaction as well as a little more information about the past he keeps buried beneath his hate for the Legion.

Notes[]

The camp and the area around it are one of the few places where legionaries, outside of legionary assassin encounters, will respawn.

Appearances[]

The Legion raid camp appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 The area to the northwest of the Legion raid camp seems very heavily bugged. Sometimes, Legion members or night stalkers freeze and become totally unresponsive there, while an NCR patrol (or companions) endlessly circle them, trying to finish them off. It is possible to dispose of such "frozen" non-player characters by using the console command kill, but sometimes even this is ineffective. In this case, the console command resurrect may cause them to disappear.[verified]
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 After killing the legionaries, it has been known for Powder Gangers to freely walk into the camp, kneel down by the campfire, and all of a sudden, their hands become tied. There is no option to untie them.[verified]
  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes, when attacking the legionaries, the Powder Gangers will stand up and run away. If the player character tries to talk to them, the message "Powder Ganger is fleeing," will appear. Reloading the game or fast traveling will solve the problem.[verified]
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 If Boxcars was killed in Nipton, the Powder Gangers will not be able to be untied. If they are killed, they will respawn in a few days.[verified]
  • PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes, when returning to the camp after untying the Powder Gangers or when approaching the camp initially, a legionary may walk up to the campfire, and proceed to sit down with his hands in front as if he is tied up. If the Powder Gangers have not been untied yet, the one that is being "replaced" will untie himself and stand still. If combat is initiated, the legionary who is tied up on the ground will stand up to fight while the Powder Ganger will sit back down and resume the tied up position.[verification needed]
