Layton Towers is a location in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston in 2287.

Background[]

A former tenement block, Layton Towers is now a stronghold controlled by raiders.[Non-game 1]

Layout[]

Layton Towers is a pair of towers in the Back Bay neighborhood. At least a dozen raiders control the interior and exterior. The towers are connected through an internal walkway on the fifth floor. There are three entrances to the towers: the front entrance to the western tower at ground level on the south side of the building, and one entrance on the roof of each tower. The roof entrance to the western tower may be reached by a fire escape in an alley on the east side of the building, while the roof entrance to the eastern tower may be accessed by an exterior window-washing elevator initially at ground level near several mines on the south side of the building. A dead raider, a dead settler and a duffle bag may be found in a ruined upper-floor exterior room across from two vehicles connected with a ramp on the elevated roadway just southwest of the front entrance to the western tower, and two ammo boxes and other minor loot are scattered in and near the basketball court just south of the front entrance to the western tower.

Each tower is comprised of six floors, but only the fifth and sixth floors are accessible in the eastern tower, and the second floor is inaccessible in the western tower. An Advanced-locked safe is outside the restroom in the back of the first floor of the western tower. Debris blocking the western tower stairwell between the third and fourth floors must be bypassed by a ramp in the corridor to the fourth floor or the elevator connecting the first and fifth floors. On the fifth floor of the eastern tower, a chemistry station is next to a broken elevator with a sleeping bag. There is a living area on the roof of the eastern tower containing a mattress, a steamer trunk, a cooking station and a weapons workbench, along with two raiders and their attack dog.

Notable loot[]

Fusion core - On the first floor of the western tower, in a generator.

Notes[]

  • On the south side of the basketball court, there is a sign that is misspelled as "Layton Towers Appartments."
  • On the third floor of the western tower, it appears a raider has died of a Jet overdose. Several doses of Jet and a toppled enamel bucket with what looks like vomit on the floor are next to the body.
  • On the fourth floor of the western tower, there is a television set in a destroyed bedroom with bullet holes in the screen in the shape of a happy face.

Appearances[]

Layton Towers only appears in Fallout 4.

Behind the scenes[]

The Layton Towers sign was created by world art intern Madeleine Rabil.

Bugs[]

PCPC It is possible to walk through the roof entrance door to the eastern tower without a prompt to enter "Layton Towers" being displayed. Passing through the door, one will see through the mesh of the tower, and the player character will fall to their death. Saving and reloading will fix the issue: the prompt to enter Layton Towers will appear, and the door will be solid. [verified]

Back Bay was once known for its numerous brownstones of architectural significance. It is now dominated by the Trinity Tower skyscraper, an immense building constructed close to the old church and public library. Now the streets and alleyways are home to roving bands of Raiders, ferals, and packs of wild dogs. The tower still stands, which is more than can be said for another skyscraper, which has half toppled into the Dartmouth Professional Building. Keep going south to reach a Raider tenement block stronghold of Layton Towers. Super Mutants have a powerful grip on this part of the city, too, decorating the Wilson Atomatoys Corporate HQ and Trinity Tower with meat bags and bloody spikes."
