Knock-Knock is a unique weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics

Knock-Knock is a cleaner, more powerful version of the fire axe, with a matte black handle and a polished steel head with a longer fluke.

Special attack

It has a special Mauler attack, which does 50% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 5 more action points, but has a chance to knock down enemies (requires a Melee skill of 50).

Note: Melee weapons do double normal damage in V.A.T.S.

It is possible to execute Mauler outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.

Durability

Knock-Knock can successfully strike about 545 times from full condition before breaking, 450 times less than the regular fire axe.

Location

It is found in Camp Searchlight's fire station. Once you get the key from Logan, head upstairs and search the bathroom stalls, look in the right side corner of the stall with the skeleton to find Knock-Knock.

  • You can kill Logan or you can complete the quest Wheel of Fortune to get the key.

Behind the scenes

While the standard fire axe is a Pick-Head Axe (also traditionally called a Fireman's Axe) intended for use in structure fires, Knock-Knock appears to be a Pulaski Tool. The Pulaski (named after its inventor, legendary US Forest Service firefighter Ed Pulaski) is a wildland firefighting hand tool that combines an axe and an adze. It is an extremely versatile tool that can cut, scrape, grub, or dig.
