Kane is the bodyguard and right-hand man of the Hub's local crime boss, Decker, during 2161.

[edit] Background
An "employee" of the Maltese Falcon bar, his intimidating presence is usually stationed at the door to the basement, Decker's sanctum and audience chamber. Like many hired hands in a bar that do not handle the mixing of drinks, Kane's primary job was to serve as a warning: any misbehavior is not tolerated. However, more importantly, Kane forms the first line of defense for his boss, local crime lord Decker. Decker, who holds court in the basement of the Maltese Falcon, has been having trouble from both sides of the law: Hub Police deputy Tony Fry is known to be gunning for the crimelord; merchants such as Daren Hightower want Decker out of the way; and even other lower-level criminals are looking to move up on the food chain. Unlike the relatively stable antagonism in Junktown, allegiances and politics shift rapidly in the Hub, and former noncombatants, strangers, and even allies often quickly became threats, particularly in the face of Decker's plans for expanding his "empire." Kane's installation was a matter of practical self-preservation.
[edit] Interactions with the player character
Kane offers the quest to kill Daren Hightower, and also the quest to kill Jain. Kane never wants to converse unless the Vault Dweller holsters his weapon(s).

[edit] In Combat
A consummate brawler, Kane has plenty of Action Points, a pair of Spiked Knuckles and a very high Unarmed skill, making him a very formidable opponent in close combat. However, his ability to wage combat at range is severely lacking, so a ranged attack with heavy firearms can eliminate Kane in very short order.
Kane is even more so dangerous in the confined quarters of the Maltese Falcon basement. It is advisable to take out Kane on the upper level of the Falcon before attempting to eliminate Decker and his other retinue (as per Hub Police).
[edit] Appearances in games
Kane appears only in the first Fallout.
