John Carmack is a game programmer, and the co-founder of id Software, a pioneer of the video game industry with titles such as Doom and Quake. Id Software was later purchased by ZeniMax Media, and he remained the studio head until November 2013[1]
He is also the CTO of Oculus Rift, a project to bring VR headsets to the masses, later leaving Id to focus on this full time.[2]
John Carmack has in the past been linked to a proposed Fallout game for the iPhone, which never progressed past the proof of concept stage.
