Momma always told me not to talk to strangers, but you seem like a nice person.

Private First Class Jeremy Watson is an NCR soldier being honored during Aaron Kimball's speech in 2281.

Background[]

Born in a tin shack on the outskirts of One Pine, Jeremy Watson led a difficult life. His father worked as a caravan guard on the Short Loop, and his mother braved ruins as a prospector.[1] The family suffered through water shortages, raider attacks, and the NCR's war with the Brotherhood of Steel.[1] When he was young, his mother left him on a farm to head out prospecting, but she never returned. The owner of the farm made him leave, but afterward, he was approached by a man who asked him if he was interested in joining the NCR, which he did.[2]

Several years later was stationed at Camp Forlorn Hope where his platoon was attacked, and he took a risk to save them.[3] He was then awarded the Star of Sierra Madre for this act of bravery, of which he would receive from President Kimball after his speech at the Hoover Dam.[3][4]

References[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 President Kimball: "Born in a tin shack on the outskirts of One Pine, Jeremy Watson never had it easy. His father worked as a caravan guard on the Short Loop, and his mother, like many Californians, braved the ruins of the Old World as a prospector. They suffered through water shortages, raider attacks, and the Brotherhood War. Like our mighty Sierra Nevadas, they endured."
    (Kimball's dialogue)
  2. Courier: "Tell me about yourself."
Jeremy Watson: "Momma always told me not to talk to strangers, but you seem like a nice person. Momma left me on a farm when she went out prospecting, but when she never came back, the owner didn't want me around and kicked me out on my own. A nice guy came up and asked me if I wanted to join the NCR so I did. Now the Troopers are my family. I like it here. Everyone is so nice."
    (Jeremy Watson's dialogue)
  3. 3.0 3.1 President Kimball: "When the republic called on the men and women of California to carry that fire across the Mojave, Jeremy Watson answered. You answered. Together, you carried the weight. And when PFC Watson's platoon came under attack at Forlorn Hope, he took the greatest risk, not only for his fellow Californians, but for California itself. He was prepared to make the most noble of sacrifices, to defend the principles of our republic, even here, on Nevada soil. His actions are a beacon to all of us who stand here today in tribute to his valor."
    (Kimball's dialogue)
  4. President Kimball: "Private First Class Jeremy Watson, on behalf of the senate and people of the New California Republic, it is my honor to present you with the Star of Sierra Madre."
