Implant Y-7 is an enzyme booster that increases the Health (HP) gained from foods and recovers additional Action Points (AP) per food item consumed.— In-game description

Implant Y-7 is an implant perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.

Obtaining[]

The implant must be purchased from the Sink Auto-Doc for 20,000 caps, which requires both installing it via finding its personality module in the Y-17 medical facility and finding the implant module in the X-13 research facility.

Effects[]

Gaining this perk grants two permanent, passive abilities involving the use of food items:

  • A small bonus to the amount of HP recovered when consuming food items.
  • Each item consumed will instantly replenish 2 Action Points.

Notes[]

  • Multiple units of the same food type can be used consecutively to restore AP; either hot-keyed, or via the Items screen of the Pip-Boy.
    • Using Rebound grants an automatic AP regeneration rate of +5 every 1 second that can narrowly outdo the perk's effects via this method, though it does come with the risk of suffering addiction.
  • The perk does not affect the maximum AP count, only restoring expended AP.
  • AP can be restored to your current maximum, including any bonus AP from items such as Jet and Sugar Bombs.
  • The perk is useful for completing the Desert Survivalist challenge.
  • The perk description says the implant is designed to help lose weight, however, this is not seen in-game and is purely for flavor.

Behind the scenes[]

The perk image is the same one used for the RobCo processor widget, a quest item in Fallout 3 as well as that of all other implant perks and Implant GRX in Old World Blues. It is also the only perk image in Fallout: New Vegas to be missing Vault Boy or Vault Girl.
