The Hub Trading Co. is a faction in New California, representing the governing body of the Hub, the largest town in New California in Fallout. By 2281, in Fallout: New Vegas, the Hub appears to have a proper, democratically elected civil government.[1]

Background[]

Greene's reforms stabilized the situation, but led to constant political infighting and strife between the merchant houses, even if it allowed the Hub to enjoy a booming economy thanks to the safety.[2]

Despite having representatives sitting on the City Council, the Big Three continued to sabotage each other and undermine in a variety of ways, though stopping short of open attacks on caravans.[3]

Organization[]

The Hub Trading Co. operates primarily through the City Council, consisting of six representatives from each of the main merchant houses or the Big Three: Water Merchants, Crimson Caravan, and Far Go Traders. Each motion requires at least four out of six votes to pass, which leads to a consistent political gridlock.[4] The Council is sometimes referred to as the Committee.[5][6]

The Hub police is the law enforcement of the Hub, answering to the Council. The police handles law enforcement and other duties, including customs and collecting dues.[7]

Beth: "{219}{}{Because, like I've been telling everyone, they've had a few caravans disappear too. Nothing like what's happening to the Far Go Traders, but they are being affected.}"
Vault Dweller: "{220}{}{They could be lying or it could be part of their plan to make you believe them.} "
Beth: "{228}{}{Good thought, but I highly doubt it. They've been sabotaging each other for years, but this is not their style. They wouldn't spend that much money to take out the caravans. Plus all the caravans are very heavily guarded. You would think someone would escape. They don't have the man power or the cash to pull that off. There would have been at least one survivor.}"
Vault Dweller: "{229}{}{Yeah, but why would it happen to the Far Go Traders more than the others?} "
Beth: "{233}{}{Bad luck? I don't know, maybe they're traveling along different routes than the others. Maybe because they aren't as heavily guarded as the Crimson Caravan but . . . they might have better cargo than the Water Merchants. Who knows. There doesn't seem to be any clear difference between the three.}"
