Historical Propriety is a two-star (★★) challenge added in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Gun Runners' Arsenal.

Challenge requirements[]

The player must kill Caesar with a knife or a combat knife.

Effects[]

Grants 500 XP upon completion.

Notes[]

  • Using Chance's knife will count towards the challenge.
  • Lonesome Road (add-on) Using a Bowie knife or Blood-Nap will not count towards the challenge.
  • It's possible to complete this challenge and Even a God-King Can Bleed by first crippling Caesar's head with a throwing spear, then using a knife to kill him.
  • This challenge is not repeatable.
  • A sandman kill will sometimes count towards the challenge.

Behind the scenes[]

This is a reference to the death of Julius Caesar, when the conspiring Roman senate surrounded him and stabbed him to death with daggers. It is also a reference to a conversation that may occur with Arcade Gannon if he is taken to the Fort as an active companion, where he will commend the player for their "historical propriety" if they claim they will try to kill Caesar.[1]

References[]

  1. The Courier: "Once we get close to Caesar, we can strike."
Arcade Gannon: "Et tu, mi amice? I have to commend you on your sense of historical propriety, but have you given more than a passing thought to how we would escape? No disrespect intended, but you aren't the first person to dream up the idea. Just give me a sign when you're about to pull out the dagger so I know when to make a run for the cliffs."
    (Arcade Gannon's dialogue)
