Healing archways are found throughout Mothership Zeta, as part of the ship's internal architecture. They instantly heal the Lone Wanderer up to about 75% of his/her maximum health and remove all radiation when walking through them, whereupon a message saying "the archway has restored some of your health" appears on screen, but the radiation removal is not notified.

After the player character has passed through it, the archways need to recharge for 15 seconds. If the player attempts to use the archway before this time has elapsed, the following message will appear: "The archway is recharging and not ready for use".

Players with a Science skill of 75 or above can modify the archway so it fully heals the player. However, after doing this the archway will burn out after 3 uses, rendering it useless whereupon the following message will be shown: "The archway has burned out and is no longer useful". After modification, the player can check how many uses are left by activating the modified archway.

Notes

  • Although the archways have no effect if the player character is between 75% and 100% of their maximum health (unless the player modifies the device), the message still appears on screen, possibly leading to some confusion. This can be especially frustrating since the modified archways will still burn out after 3 passes, even if the Lone Wanderer is already at full health.
  • The archways also cure any chem addictions or crippled limbs the player might have.
  • Although Sally says that the aliens use the archways to heal themselves, the aliens do not actually appear to gain any benefit when they run through the archways, and neither will the other human captives.
  • A modified archway will have some red sparks flying around it.

Bugs

PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes the healing archways will not work. Activating them seems to do nothing. Restarting the system seems to fix this in some cases. This can also apply to individual arches, meaning that some arches will work, while others won't do anything at all. Modifying the device will usually fix this. [verified]
