Happy Trails is a small caravan company operating in NCR territory in 2281.
Background
Happy Trails is based in Sac-Town, north of Shady Sands, and does most of its business with New Reno and on the road to Salt Lake City. After several seasons of bad trading, and since the loss of contact with New Canaan in 2281, the company is in dire financial straits and is preparing to launch an expedition to New Canaan via Zion Canyon in order to reconnect with the Mormons there.
History
Little is known about the Happy Trails Caravan other than they compete with the Crimson Caravan in trading.
Endings
- If either of the Mormons are killed, the Happy Trails Caravan Company is devastated by the failure of its expedition. The New Canaanites never reestablish ties with the caravan. Their experiences with outsiders near the Great Salt Lake and in Zion have been far too negative. Within six months, the Happy Trails Caravan Company is bankrupted and dissolved.
- If the Sorrows are evacuated from Zion, the Happy Trails Caravan Company is initially discouraged by the results of its expedition. The fate of New Canaan makes the prospect of trading seem fruitless. When Daniel tells his family about the exploits of Happy Trails' employee, the Courier, however, New Canaan decides to repay the company's kindness. Twice per year, New Canaanites make the dangerous journey west to trade with the company in the city of New Reno. The Happy Trails Caravan Company does not survive on such trading alone, but the New Canaanites' generosity make tough times go easier.
- If the White Legs are defeated in Zion, it marks a turning point in the fortunes of the Happy Trails Caravan Company. Every two months, the caravan meets with the New Canaanites in Zion Valley to trade. Happy Trails soon returns to prosperity. The vigilance of the Sorrows and Dead Horses in defending southwestern Utah, initially startling to Happy Trails caravans, soon proves a blessing. The tribes unite against the 80s, driving them back from Highway 50, and thus opening yet another trading route for Happy Trails caravans.
