The grenade launcher is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics
The grenade launcher is a pump-action operated weapon, firing 40mm grenades from a tubular magazine. Despite being only slightly larger than the grenade rifle, it has twice the weight.
Durability
The grenade launcher can fire a total of about 495 standard rounds, the equivalent of 124 reloads, from full condition before breaking.
Locations
- Can be found at Nellis Air Force Base and on most Boomers, notably during the Ant Misbehavin' quest.
- Pearl carries one.
- Two of them can be found in the Armory of Vault 34 in poor condition, along with some 40mm grenade ammunition.
- Grenade launchers can also be purchased from Daniel Contreras at the Camp McCarran supply shack or from Blake at the Crimson Caravan Company.
- One can be bought from the NCR arms merchant at the 188 Trading post.
They can be found on some of the White Legs tribals in the add-on.- There is one carried by one of the caravan guards at the beginning of the add-on.
- The munitions Trader at Nellis Air Force Base should sell some.
- A high condition grenade launcher can be found at the top of a large, tall rock between the X-2 transmitter antenna array and Higgs Village.
Behind the scenes
The grenade launcher is based on the China Lake model grenade launcher prototype from the late sixties.[1] The receiver and stock are mis-aligned in game however.
Bugs
- Dead Money overrides some of the changes that have been made to the grenade launcher in previous patches. With Dead Money installed and nothing else taking up space in your load order, the grenade's base damage is increased to 30, its spread is increased to 1.0, non-player characters will still use ammunition, and it can still be repaired with miniguns. [verified]
- In V.A.T.S., you may fire 2 or more shots at an enemy, if the first one succeeds to kill the enemy, the other shots will still be fired, rather than exiting V.A.T.S. when the kill is completed, wasting ammunition and time. [verified]
