Me? Heavy weapons. Miniguns, missile launchers... If it's bigger than a human and goes boom, I'm all over it.

Paladin Glade is the heavy weapons expert of Lyons' Pride in 2277, and is located in the Citadel A ring.

Background[]

Like the rest of the members of Lyons' Pride, Glade was handpicked by Sarah Lyons to be part of the elite unit.[1] He is the group's oldest member, and serves as their technician and smith. However, beyond his technical capabilities, he is also heavily experienced in combat, serving as the most well-rounded member of the unit.[Non-game 1] His particular combat speciality is in heavy weapons, such as miniguns, missile launchers, and the Gatling laser which he is currently wielding.[2]

Upon first meeting the Lone Wanderer, Glade is friendly and welcoming towards them, expressing relief that they and Madison Li were able to escape from the Jefferson Memorial after the arrival of the Enclave.[3][4][5] He is hesitant about fighting the Enclave, noting that unlike the super mutants, the Enclave are exceedingly well-organized, trained and equipped, and the current members of the Brotherhood have never faced such an enemy before. However, he still says that the Pride is "in it to win it" and that he will go down shooting if he has to, but he hopes that such a sacrifice will not be necessary.[6] Provided that he is not killed inside the Citadel, he ultimately participates in the Battle of Project Purity, where he can be killed. If he survives, he will return to the Citadel and provide additional commentary on the state of the war as it progresses further.[7][8][9]

Glade is also something of a jokester, making a couple of humorous remarks in conversations and playing pranks such as repeatedly hacking into Sawbones' terminal and leaving him messages.[10][11] He has also started a betting pool to find out Knight Captain Gallows' real name.[12][13] On Gallows, although Glade does not know his name or where he came from, he is glad that the man is on their side, as he is an excellent fighter.[14] If informed that Gallows' real name is in fact "Irving," Glade will be sufficiently amused, and sees the comedic potential in informing the other members of the group of the Knight Captain's unusual name.[15][16]

He will interact with Knight Captain Dusk during the latter's live fire exercises. Although Glade is impressed by Dusk's marksmanship, she insists that one of her shots dropped by a couple of inches, hitting the target's nose instead of the eye, something that Glade is surprised that she cares about, as the target would have been killed either way.[17]

Notes[]

  • If Sawbones' terminal is hacked, it comes up with a message from Glade saying that he hacked his terminal and telling him to change his password or else Glade will delete Sawbones' "stupid poetry."[11]
  • Along with other Lyons' Pride members, he may have a merc outfit in his inventory.
  • Sometimes, Glade can be found in the Citadel B ring (the brig), particularly if it is late at night.

Notable quotes[]

Behind the scenes[]

  • The names of topics for ambient Citadel conversations (CitGladeTeachExplosives## and so on) suggest that originally he was supposed to play the role Paladin Gunny has in the released game.

Appearances[]

Paladin Glade appears in Fallout 3 and in Fallout Shelter Online.

  1. Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about the Lyons' Pride?"
Glade: "You my friend, are talking about the most elite fighting force ever assembled within the Brotherhood of Steel. Each of us was handpicked by Sentinel Lyons herself. You can't even realize what an honor that is. Sarah defines combat excellence."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  2. Lone Wanderer: "So what's your job in the Lyons' Pride?"
Glade: "Me? Heavy weapons. Miniguns, Missile Launchers... If it's bigger than a human and goes boom, I'm all over it."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  3. Glade: "Glad to see you and that egghead Li made it here in one piece. I heard what happened at that purifier. Hell of thing."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  4. Glade: "'can I do for you, kid?"
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  5. Glade: "Good to see you in one piece, partner. What can I do for you?"
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  6. Lone Wanderer: "So... Any thoughts on the Enclave?"
Glade: "Man, I don't know. Fighting Uglies is one thing, but we've never gone up against anyone that well trained or organized. Even their tech is better. Don't get me wrong. The Pride's in it to win it, and I'll go down shooting if I have to. I just hope I don't have to."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  7. Lone Wanderer: "So... Any thoughts on the Enclave?"
Glade: "This plan sounds crazy, doesn't it? I mean, I guess it's all we have. If we can't pull this off, they're going to roll right over us. So we might as well try."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  8. Lone Wanderer: "So... Any thoughts on the Enclave?"
Glade: "They've got us by the throat now. If we give them room to recover, there's no way we're going to be able to stop them. We'll keep fighting. It's all we can do. But I can't see this ending well."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  9. Lone Wanderer: "So... Any thoughts on the Enclave?"
Glade: "We've held out pretty well. If we keep them on the defensive, and can keep pressing them, we've got a good shot at winning this fight. Things are looking a hell of a lot better than they were a few weeks ago."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  10. Lone Wanderer: "Care to share anything about the Super Mutants?"
Glade: "Man, nothing dies like an Ugly. I once saw Colvin snipe the leg off of one at 200 yards. Thing pirouetted like a figure skater!"

  12. Lone Wanderer: "What's the story with Gallows?"
Glade: "Oh man, there's something wrong with that boy. Ain't nobody around here that even knows his real name. We got a betting pool in the pride, whole pot goes to the first person who can find out his real name."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  13. Lone Wanderer: "What do you think about Gallows?"
Dusk: "I don't trust him. I know, I know, I should take faith in my brother, but he disappears for days out into the Wastes. He comes back without a word. He only reports to Sentinel Lyons, and doesn't tell the rest of us what he's up to. I can't trust a soldier like that. The other guys, they think it's a joke. Glade's even got a betting pool going to find out Gallows' real name. A betting pool. Honestly..."
    (Knight Captain Dusk's dialogue)
  14. Lone Wanderer: "No one knows his name?"
Glade: "Nope. No one knows his name, where he comes from nothin'. He's a mean little bastard for sure. He'd be a Paladin by now for sure, except that he ain't got no interest in leadin'. Only killin'. I'm just glad he's on our side."
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  15. Lone Wanderer: "I know Gallows' real name."
Glade: "Really? You're kidding me. What is it?"
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  16. Lone Wanderer: "It's Irving."
Glade: "Hahahaha! Irving! Are you serious? Oh man... wait until the other guys hear this... Irving! Here's the pool. You earned it!"
    (Paladin Glade's dialogue)
  17. Glade: "Damn, Dusky. You're a beast with that rifle."
Dusk: "Bullshit. That third shot dropped by a couple of inches."
Glade: "Are you kidding? A couple of inches? So you get the nose instead of the eye. Who cares?"
Dusk: "I care. If I were aiming for his nose, that'd be fine. But I wasn't. I was going for the eye. Sloppy..."
Glade: "You're really scary, Dusk. Has anyone ever told you that?"
Dusk: "A few people. But I don't get tired of hearing it."
(Paladin Glade and Knight Captain Dusk's dialogue)
