I hope you're not here to kill me. If you don't mind, can you wait until after I finish meditating?

Sister Francis is a member of the Children of the Cathedral in 2161.

Background[]

A pious woman, she consistently meditates on the first floor of the Cathedral. She is very faithful and respectful to her higher ranking members, and carries a weapon with her "if reason will not sway my enemies." She aspires to be transformed into a servitor. Francis admires the servitors because they are even more able to focus on the Master, and therefor, more enlightened.[1]

She is usually standing next to the boisterous Ton Barracus.

Notable quotes[]

  • "I hope you're not here to kill me. If you don't mind, can you wait until after I finish meditating?"
  • The Master is my friend. Unity is prosperity. Peace is prosperity. Peace and Unity come through Obedience. Obedience is proven through Submission to Authority. He who submits will be christened by the Holy Flame, but the faithful will not be burned. He who goes through Fire without burning shall have life everlasting. I hope I didn't miss anything.

Appearances[]

Sister Francis appears only in Fallout.

Behind the scenes[]

Her name appears to be a reference to Brother Francis Gerard, the first protagonist of A Canticle for Leibowitz, a book which has been listed by Tim Cain and Fred Zeleny as an inspiration for various elements of the Fallout series.[Non-game 1][Non-game 2][Non-game 3] Incidentally, Brother Gerard from Broken Steel seems to share her namesake.

  • Further, the character she stands next to, Ton Barracus, may be named for Thom Taddeo.
