After 100's of hours of gameplay I never found the Firelance. I thought it happened and just couldn't find it. I was wrong. As I'm walking alone the street near Wilhelm's Wharf towards the Super Duper Mart, I hear a jet plane, I look up and see a line of smoke. I go "Oh. My. God!" I run over and find myself irradiated, I look around and find a few APC's. I couldn't find the Firelance so I go up to the cliff and I find it. The Legendary Firelance. This has completed my game. Well done. I simply reloaded the same random encounter location until I found it, then got Dogmeat to collect the weapon and ammo. Fat Man Spoon 22:32, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Some people enjoy the firelance event alot more, I on the other hand, hate's it. Everytime i start a new character, I walk around for 5 hours and "oh there is firelance again", considering it's a new character and I have a need to pick up any special items if I come across them and I didn't have dogmeat, I spent 30 minutes everytime looking for the damn thing. Firelance should die, as a matter of fact I will repair my alien blaster with it right now. I'm 81.234.140.17, Adjust. 11:53, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I guess some people just get lucky (and yes i know luck plays a factor), but i'm on my 4th playthrough now, (2 pre DLC) and i have only found the firelance on my most recent playthrough. Another thing is, i didnt even get to see the event, i was just randomly walking and saw a glowing tube on the ground which looked to me like an alien power cell. well what do you know, lucky thing i had dogmeat with me, or i would have been screwed, the ammo and gun was scattered over a football field length of distance. Consider yourself lucky that that's how it happened for you. The first time I heard the jet and saw the smoke trail, it was on my way to the Super Duper Mart. When I rounded the front corner of the building, one of the raiders that is there the first time you visit it had picked up Firelance, and used it to toast my ass. I survived, but only barely, and got a Firelance that was in even worse condition because it took some damage in my fight with the raider.

The next time I found it (with a different file, obviously,) went a little more smoothly. I was leaving some random power station, and heard some clanging sound as I walked away. It was the sound of me accidentally kicking Firelance. Score. --98.215.132.216 06:21, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

You know , i actually found the firelance in the same place (the radio tower near oasis) on THREE different playthroughs !!! then , on the playthrough when i was aiming to collect everything , it didnt show up .. oh firelance .. WHY DID YOU LEEAAVE ME ?!!! *sob*

You should all count yourselves lucky, I have only ever once had the firelance, on my first playthrough as a level 3 player I inadvertently wandered into the Deathclaw sanctuary while searching for random crap, as I wandered in I found out that a raider had found it in a random encounter nearby, I killed the raider and took all the ammo for the weapon nearby, but the last cell collection was right in the canyon, around 10 Deathclaws shot around the canyon corner right towards me, I only survived by hurriedly clambering to the nearby Radio station where I mounted a final stand using the gun, Jericho died saving me and I retreated right to the Drainage gate where I leaped off back into the canyon and found Jehricos corpse where I had stashed all my mini nukes, in my last health bar I fired at piont blank range and blew my body so far high I could have met the freaking aliens, next time I played through that area I had the shitty regualtor random encounter :(
