Forums: Index > Fallout world discussion > Why is the NCR at war with the brotherhood?

Ive been reading up on the original fallout's(so i know if i want to get them) and i read that the NCR was fighting the brotherhood but i couldn't find out why, anyone know how it started?

The war wasn't actually in the original Fallouts, but in the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studios, codenamed Van Buren. For details, see: Brotherhood of Steel#War with the NCR. Ausir 13:18, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

hope they use buren for parts of f4! 19:54, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

I think using parts of van buren would be good, but the downside is that alot of the map is...well.......desert, and that makes real fun first person trekking. If they released Van buren, in it's original state completed (obviously at a low price) I would buy it. I think they should move the game to London, or Paris (though explaining why everyone speaks english with a weird accent would take some real good explaining). Paris would be interesting with all of it's monuments. --I-am-a-panda 15:13, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

but then it wouldn't be part of the fallout universe it would be something else, no pipboy or energy weapons or power armor, north America is the only place to have a fallout game it just works their. If they make van buren I hope that they only use some of it, the vault beginnings are real cool, it should still be a fps though. i couldn't care less if they keep fallout in the east coast it doesn't have all the guns as the west, or as cool locations.Maccy Man the man with no plan. 16:55, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

What is to say Europe didn't possess energy weapons and had pip-boys and vaults. They certainly had energy weapons, the original Fallout's have a gauss pistol from Germany. I wouldn't doubt there were vault styled shelters. And though there mightn't have been pip-boys, there was probably something close. --I-am-a-panda 21:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

a doubt very much Europe has anything compared to the us or china because they were already in their own apocalypse they wouldn't have all the resources the enclave or china would have had because of the fact these two countries were totalitarian countries. they did what they wanted.Maccy Man the man with no plan. 21:38, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

first, the enclave wasent the enclave until after the bombs fell, maccy man. it was still the united states government. secondly, other places probably did have energy weapons, being that it was the 2070's. though i doubt they had as many fallout shelters as the united states had. although if vault tech was realy smart, and realy wanted to do its social engeneriang tests, it would build in as many different countries as possible. just in case.

the enclave was always the enclave. guass is not a energy weapon. and its doubtful that other countries had the resources to make energy weapons because of the many wars that happened before the great war.Maccy Man a man of steel! 02:08, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

wrong again bitter taste the enclave was always the enclave.and were do you get that other countries had energy weapons? if that was the case the chinese would have them. and no i dont count gauss as a energy weapon.Maccy Man the man with no plan. 19:41, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

The Enclave always was the Enclave... No, it was the US government. Do you hear the soldiers call it the Enclave in Operation Anchorage? No, because it didn't exist. Of course Gauss is an enery weapon, it may fire slugs, but the reason that the slugs are fired at mach 5 is because it is powered by energy and microfusion cells, also it falls under the energy weapons skill. Europe would make for a fine setting for another Fallout game, made by competent developers. Since it pretty much fell into civil war by 2060, it'd be a very interesting locale to explore, especially after the bickering states got nuked.

As for the original question, the NCR got into a war with the Brotherhood because the latter were losing their position, and decided to take it back by wrestling technology from the hands of lesser people - including the NCR. That Furry Bastard 20:18, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

the bethesda developers are very competent they just lack imagination.Maccy Man the man with no plan. 06:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Which is kind of the point - imagination is everything for a developer, otherwise, you're just a hack. That Furry Bastard 06:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

if you put it that way halo 2 and 3 suck. they do but still. if they just start putting more things into the game and took some stuff out that is just plain annoying.Maccy Man the man with no plan. 07:04, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

They should do one in Canada, because there was so much activity in Alaska right before the apocalypse, and they probably had some forts lying around there. Plus there could be mutant polar bears and stuff. It should be in the north, cause south Canada is pretty much just like north US. --24.72.49.251 18:22, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
